In 2021, comedians Esyllt Sears and Stuart Laws bonded over their love of Baywatch - the 1990s action-drama series following a team of lifeguards in slow motion.
But trouble was brewing. Which version of the show was superior? Esyllt mainteined it was the original Baywatch. Stu insisted it was Baywatch Nights - the Hasselhoff-led detective/sci-fi spin-off series.
The Battle Of Baywatch had begun - and was subsequently fought across two, unbroadcast, pilot podcast episodes. Each week, a guest was presented with two episodes of the show - Esyllt would select an edition of the original Baywatch while Stuart would source a top-notch edition of Baywatch Nights. Having discussed the themes and montages, the comedian would then be encouraged to pick a side and announce which series they thought was superior.
Despite repeated texts and Whatsapps asking questions like "what, you still have these?", "sorry, what did I say?" and "are you really sure I won't be cancelled?", The Xennial Dome is proud to present these long-lost tapes. We start with stand-up comedian and BBC Audio Drama Award winner Ken Cheng who, in part 1, is subjected to Series 4, Episode 4 of the original series - "Blindside".
