 As non-bank lenders are playing an increasingly important role in financing Irish SMEs, Alternative Business Finance Brokers has created The Business Finance Podcast to update SMEs about the ever evolving and complex business finance market. Over the past 10 years, the number of functioning banks operating in the market has reduced from 13 to just 3, the number of non-bank lenders has increased from 2 to 67, with 22 of these having loaned over €50 million each to SMEs in 2019-2020. As non-bank lenders don't operate through a branch network, they have much lower profile than that of the banks and quite often SMEs are not aware of their existence or the range of flexible business finance products on offer.
