🎙️ The Boundary Rider’s Report – June 2025: Frosty Paddocks, Fine Bulls & Forward Planning

Winter is well and truly here in Guyra. The frosts have settled in, the ground’s holding green, and we’re deep in the thick of bull sale prep at Bald Blair Angus.

This month, Sam White and Rebel Black cover:

    • ❄️ Seasonal conditions on the Northern Tablelands: cold, frosty, damp underfoot – but plenty of green feed and good reserves.

    • 💧 Water and mud: managing access and logistics through a classic Guyra winter.

    • 🐂 Bull sale prep is in full swing: 75 rising 2-year-old bulls, 15 eighteen-month-old bulls, and 5 yearlings to be offered.

    • 💉 Health protocols: 600-day weights, booster shots (MH1, IBR, pesti, lepto, vibrio), and semen testing with our local vet.

    • 📋 All bulls have been independently structurally assessed, immune-ready, bulls parent verified (2 sire verified), and carry genomically enhanced EBVs.

    • 📽️ Bull videos coming online two weeks before the sale.

    • 📖 The catalogue is almost ready, and you can shortlist bulls using Angus Australia’s Angus Tech tools – we’re here to help guide you through the data.

    • 🧬 Bloodlines on offer include:

      • Final opportunity to secure Paratrooper and L519 sons.

      • Sons of Stirling S86, Sitz Resilient, Myers Fair N Square, Bald Blair P97, and R71 – a proven marbling sire, and new sires like SS Brickyard, Stirling Confidence.

    • 🧼 Freeze branding and shearing now underway as we prepare for the next season.

    • 🐮 Autumn herd showing great promise – first calves on the ground by Hart Network and Connealy Craftsman, with strong stud flush and implant results.

We also acknowledge our Bald Blair steers' strong performance in the Angus Shootout – showing versatility across both long-fed and short-fed systems.

And don’t miss our Open Day – Wednesday 23 July 2025 with guest speaker Simon Quilty of Global Agritrends.
