  • Episode 2: Nancy Robles on The Power (and Controversy) of GLP1(s)
    2025/04/09

This week, Adama's childhood friend Nancy Robles joins your hosts to discuss Glucagon-Like Peptide-1, commonly known as GLP1. This hormone plays a key role in regulating blood sugar levels and appetite. GLP-1 receptor agonists (like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro) are commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes and, more recently, for weight management. These medications work by slowing digestion, increasing insulin release, and reducing hunger, making them popular for both diabetes treatment and weight loss.

Nancy is an advanced practice provider with a focus in inherited cardiovascular and neuromuscular diseases, advanced heart failure, and sports cardiology. Recently, she has been working with several of her patients who are trying to improve their health and she has found amazing success in prescribing these drugs to help them on their journey.

Listen to this fascinating discussion to learn more about:

    • The research supporting GLP1s
    • How to increase your naturally occurring GLP1 (yes, that's a thing!)
    • And why Ozempic face happens...(you'll want to listen to this)
