  • The Hebrew Brothers with Yocheved Kim Ruttenberg & Annette Goldstein
    2024/09/17

Henry Weinreich and Amit Rehak present The Hebrew Brothers! On this episode, our special guest is Yocheved Kim Ruttenberg, co-founder of SWORD OF IRON, one of the fastest-growing volunteer groups in Israel.

Yocheved has been voted in Israel’s top 48 people who exemplify Israeli resilience and building toward a brighter future in 2024

Yocheved was born and raised in an Orthodox Jewish home in Baltimore, Maryland. One of her brothers lives in Israel and serves in the IDF. She picked up news of the massacre in Israel on October 7 and, one and a half weeks later, was on a plane to Tel Aviv and has not left since.

Annette Goldstein is a champion of change. She grew up in a small town in West Virginia and made Aliyah to Israel in 1988, 20 years later.

This led to her meeting her husband, a conservative rabbi, and so she became a Rebitzin. Then, moving to New Jersey, they oversaw three different congregations: one in Bergen County, one in North Brunswick, and the other in Ocean Township. That is where they raised three children and received their education. They were all conservative congregations. The rabbi studied at the New York Seminary for conservative Judaism.

Annette is a language therapist who works with students with dyslexia and cognition. For almost 25 years, she has focused on their processing and executive functioning, which involves understanding language and writing skills.

Annette always had a strong love for Zionism and connections to Israel, which led to another unexpected spiritual journey after the passing of her husband, Rabbi Michael, in 2017 on September 9th.

Her new path was fraught with challenges, struggling with profound loneliness, and the loss of her soulmate was learning new lessons of perseverance to continue to live life with excitement and to the fullest.

Today, we welcome Annette Goldstein and discover her lessons in life from such diverse and rich experiences.
