William Harry McRaven (born November 6, 1955) is a retired United States Navy four-star admiral who served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) from August 8, 2011 to August 28, 2014. From 2015 to 2018, he was the chancellor of The University of Texas System.

McRaven previously served from June 13, 2008, to August 2011 as commander of Joint Special Operations Command(JSOC) and from June 2006 to March 2008 as commander of Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR). In addition to his duties as COMSOCEUR, he was designated as the first director of the NATO Special Operations Forces Coordination Centre (NSCC), where he was charged with enhancing the capabilities and inter-operability of all NATO Special Operations Forces. McRaven retired from the U.S. Navy on August 28, 2014, after more than 37 years of service.

McRaven was named as a possible choice to be nominated as U.S. Secretary of Defense by President-elect Joe Biden.However, Biden nominated retired general Lloyd Austin.

We live in a world where it's almost impossible to be focused because there is a million things going on at once. Many of us are jacks of all trades but masters of none.

I think its right for us to look at tunnel vision in a positive light.

Look at the greats like Michael Jordan, Jon Maxwell, TD Jakes etc. These men are all masters of their craft. You should be too. Greatness is calling you.

Nelson Mandela once said, “Action without vision is only passing time. Vision without action is merely daydreaming. But vision with action can change the world.”

1. Vision comes from within.

John Maxwell says, “You can’t buy, beg, or borrow vision. It has to come from the inside.” Leaders go first—and that starts with setting aside plenty of time to craft a vision. Don’t expect a vision to fall from the sky by accident. Vision is to be found inside the leader.

2. Vision comes from your history.

Confucius said, “Study the past if you would define the future.” Vision doesn’t come in a vacuum. Good leaders use the experiences from their past to inform the direction of their future.

3. Vision should meet the needs of another.

Simon Sinek said, “Great leaders must have two things: a vision of the world that does not yet exist and the ability to communicate that vision clearly.”

When God created man, he didn't create you to be average or mediocre, He created you to be great. God has an assignment for you, but the first step is to SHOW UP! 

There needs to be an awakening of men in this generation. SHOW UP!
