    About

My professional career began as a firefighter/paramedic for 17 years; 4 of which were in the United States Air Force.

In 2016, my journey into the IV Therapy industry started and changed my life forever. The passion I have for the industry and, more importantly, the dispatchers/providers/leaders/owners in the industry is nothing I’ve ever felt before.

I love to help others in this new industry not get caught up in the nonsense. Love what you do and work together with your competitors. Build up the entire pie. Not just your slice. ✊🏼

  • Special Guests | Jennifer Kraatz, MSPharm & Jeffrey L. Cohen, ESQ | California Board of Pharmacy Recent Position Regarding Compounding Glutathione and Methylcobalamin
    2023/02/11

Recently the CA Board of Pharmacy’s (BOP) filed a complaint against La Vita Compounding Pharmacy for compounding sterile preparations with Glutathione and Methylcobalamin. This complaint and what is happening with California Compounding Regulations should be taken seriously as they may have nationwide implications that every IV hydration therapy provider should be aware of. Join Jennifer Kraatz, MSPharm, Founder of Pharmacy Upward and Jeff Cohen, Esq, Founder the Florida Healthcare Law Firm as they discuss what California providers are doing to circumvent this issue, what the possible consequences of their actions are, and what IV hydration therapy providers nationwide should be aware of, and be diligent in, to help avoid the same stipulation in their state.

A few topics that are covered during this podcast:

    • Do state regulators really have the authority to make these decisions and do they investigate and uphold these decisions?
    • What motivates regulators to investigate and pass such restrictions?
    • If you are in California and your pharmacy has not received a cease and desist for Glutathione and Methylcobalamin injections, should you continue to order these products for your patients?
    • Who is liable should you and/or the pharmacy be investigated? What are the ramifications?
    • What is the difference between nutraceutical grade and injectable grade Glutathione and Methylcobalamin?
    • How do you know if the pharmacy is providing you nutraceutical or injectable grade and why this is a critical issue?
    • What should consumers be aware of?
    • What have we learned from this, about the industry?
    • Are other states likely to follow California?
    • How can providers stay on top of the ever changing BOP and FDA guidelines?
    • How do they shorten the gap between themselves and regulators?

    Key takeaways:

    • Partner with your pharmacy and ask them questions about quality, injectable grade, certificate of analysis, and more.
    • View the regulatory bodies as your partners, communicate, and help close the gap.
    • Every state is being regulated differently.
    • Be more initiative-taking, self-regulate and define in a granular way what quality means to you and your organization.
    • Quality is either going to be defined for you, by you or at you.
    • Larger provider practices should become interactive and speak with the regulators, build a collaborative relationship, and become a quality resource to them on industry information.
    • As consumers, you are paying for what you get.

    2023/01/03

In this episode, Coop shares IV Hydration pearls in regards to:

    1. Procedures that can be done concurrently with IV hydration (how to maximize time and income).
    2. What is required physically to add IV therapy to an existing practice? (Ie treatment space, making the “experience”)
    3. Can patients bring a friend/family member or schedule “IV parties”?
    4. What practice types are best suited for this offering?
    5. How does it impact overhead? What are start up costs?

    Jennifer Cooper, MS, APRN, AGACNP-BC

Jennifer 'Coop' Cooper is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner who specializes in surgery, IV therapy, and total-body wellness. After more than 10 years in the operating room, Coop has assisted in literally thousands of procedures, from heart transplants to mommy makeovers. Now in private practice at Pacific Heights Plastic Surgery, Cooper continues to provide exceptional care to her patients, both in the OR as well as in her in-office wellness lounge. Here, she specialized in IV therapy, injectable supplements, and medical weight management. The wellness lounge was designed and implemented by Coop, as she and her team built the lounge from the ground up as a labor of love in order to provide a full-service wellness experience for their patients. Outside the clinic, Coop is also a certified IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) provider, specializing in in-home IV immunotherapy.

I love to add these to my IVs regularly because I have ulcerative colitis, so I don't absorb the nutrients from pills very well well."
