Gideon kills the two Midianite kings. Gideon creates an idol which is a snare. The Land has peace for 40 years during his lifetime. Gideon is like a type of Jesus: a mediator between God and his people. When Gideon dies, the Israelites begin to forget God and they forget about Gideon's progeny too.

The trial, crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus Christ. The promise of Jesus of eternal life to one of the thieves who feared God out of respect and who put his full trust in Jesus.

Verses 1 - 23. Jesus' trial before Pilate. The release of Barabbas and the condemnation of Jesus. The height of sin: the guilty go free and the innocent are jailed. God uses that horrible frameup to save humanity for all those who believe in Jesus.

Gideon defeats the Midianites. God is with Gideon and even the enemies of God's people know that God is with Gideon as Gideon overhears a conversation.

Verses 39 - 71. Jesus is betrayed and arrested. Jesus tells the Pharisees that out of their own mouths, they have said that He is the Son of God.

Verses 1 - 38. The Last Supper of Jesus. Jesus preparing them for the shock of what is to come (but they not 'understanding' the full context of what he is saying). The 'beginning' of the New Covenant - and its replacement of the Old Covenant.

God makes Gideon a judge of Israel. Like Jesus, Gideon comes from humble beginnings. Gideon, like all Christians, has doubts if God has called him to do something - and needs assurance and reassurance that He is on the God-ordained path and not a path of his own making.
