  • What spells am I casting on myself and others? 🪄
    2024/08/30

The first agreement in Don Miguel Ruiz's The Four Agreements is, "Be impeccable with your word." If a child is consistently told they are amazing by their parents, that child will come to believe it. The word is like a seed and the human mind is very fertile. Plant a seed, a thought, and it grows...so watch your mouth or it will watch you.

  • How can I turn challenges into advantages? 🏊‍♂️
    2024/08/23

A baby crawling will attempt to walk no matter how many times they fall. This is a common challenge we face early in life. Overcoming it is essential for learning to walk. It all starts with perception – seeing things as they really are. Taking action and being patient is key as we work through the process. Even when it feels like nothing is working, we can use our determination to overcome challenges.

  • What if it was FriYay five days a week? 🗓️
    2024/08/09

Life is shaped by the stories we tell ourselves, whether based on reality or imagination. Our brains can't tell the difference between real and imagined. Since our brains are linked to our emotions, we can influence our emotions by controlling the information we feed our brains. For example, if Friday brings relief, joy, and energy, we can tell ourselves "It's FriYaY!" from Monday to Thursday as an experiment.

  • How can I achieve this daunting goal? 🧗‍♀️
    2024/08/02

Today I thought about how powerful small simple steps can be. We all have a plethora of tasks or goals that we are looking to accomplish. The challenge is usually a feeling of being overwhelmed by a combination of self-narratives, such as, "I can't do this," or, "This is too much." Everything can be broken down into small simple steps. The question to ask oneself is, "How do I break this down into small simple achievable steps for myself?"

  • Am I the tool or is this device the tool? 🔔
    2024/07/26

Today I thought about the question, am I the tool, or is this digital device the tool? Brian coach Jim Kwik shares the concept of digital distraction, in his book Limitless, which is pretty self-explanatory by the name. One way to utilize a digital device as a more beneficial distraction is to take a couple of deep breaths every time a notification ding goes off (works with smartwatches as well). • Am I being defensive? ⏸️
    2024/07/12

Today, I reflected on my tendency to become defensive and what it reveals about myself. Simply put, I realized that there's no need to get defensive unless there is some truth to the criticism. This reminded me of the old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." If I find myself getting defensive, I should take a moment to consider what truth might be behind the criticism.

  • How do I speak to myself? 🎙️
    2024/07/05

Today, I was thinking about how I talk to myself and why it's important. If I am responsible for what I say to my inner child, why would I say anything that makes my inner child feel small? Your self-talk affects your thoughts, actions, and feelings, so it's important to use positive self-talk.
