The Unfair Advantage for Entrepreneurs with Marten Palu

  • サマリー

  • Marten Palu, the Founder and CEO of Gamecan, is an entrepreneur deeply rooted in the game industry and committed to fostering a new generation of game developers. Originating from a village of 400 people near Pärnu, Estonia, Palu has been at the helm of Gamecan since its inception in 2015. The studio, known for its use of Unreal Engine technology, offers a portfolio of games while also acting as a hub of learning and development for aspiring game creators. Under Palu's leadership, Gamecan launched the Full Cycle Game Academy in 2022, an intensive nine-month course designed to shape anyone with a passion for game development into a competent professional. The academy has already drawn students from around the globe, including Finland, Azerbaijan, Argentina, and of course, Estonia. Palu's passion for games dates back to his childhood, having entered the world of video games through the infamous famicon yellow cassettes in 1993 and then the PlayStation 1 in 1996. Despite not attending university or finishing high school, his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit have led him to the big leagues of the game industry. With a team of soon 60 people, they develop original Unreal Engine titles for PC and consoles. But Marten's influence extends beyond the realm of gaming. He is also the founder of the Pärnu-based Black and Brownie dance school, demonstrating his belief in the complementary nature of physical and virtual worlds. His ultimate goal, both through his dance school and Gamecan, is to nurture an environment in Pärnu where young people can build sustainable solutions while remaining in the city. Additionally, he has founded and co-founded near 10 other companies, from a co-working space and a youth center, to a future-looking full city district development. This includes creating new jobs for the city's youth and aiding future entrepreneurs in getting their innovative ideas off the ground. Recently, he was recognized as the CEO of the year, across the whole Pärnu County. Since November 2022, he has taken a deep-dive into the world of artificial intelligence, having already improved his own productivity in multiples and slowly rolling out AI-powered solutions and workflows through all of his ventures.
