Air Marshal Chopra, a graduate of the National Defense Academy's 41st course, was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force on June 2, 1973. He has commanded a Mirage 2000 Squadron, led the MiG 21 Bison Upgrade project in Russia, and headed operations in J&K, retiring as the Air Officer in Charge of Personnel with the rank of air marshal.
His career is distinguished by his roles as a fighter pilot, test pilot, and Qualified Flying Instructor.
