My friends, this is an episode I felt called to put together after seeing how Dr. Taylor Marshall gets attacked for his advocacy for the practice of receiving on the tongue. As I say in the episode, I don't listen to his podcast all that often and I also acknowledge that I wish he would find a way to defend the faith with great vigor and more manifest charity in his tone. At the end of the day, the early church fathers often spoke with a similar tone (we shouldn't be shocked by it) and still maintained christian unity. This is because unity is a matter of doctrine, not a matter of saying nice things. The Church allows for both practices, but the real issue is reverence and taking care that the Eucharist is handled with care.

Dear Christians, during a presidential election year, it is important to reflect on the nature of Liberty and how we properly subject it under Christ. La Liberté guidant le peuple is a famous painting by Eugene Delacroix which is the focus of my reflection in this episode. Will we take Eve as our model and grasp at Autonomy under one idea of liberty? Or will we take Mary as our model and the freedom that is grounded in Christ?

Dear Christians, in this episode I reflect on the virtue of Magnanimity. We look at the roots of the word as well as how Aquinas defines it in the Summa. I also read from Scripture to show three biblical characters who illustrate Magnanimity ranging from bad to good. Readings from the parable of the Talents in Matthew/ the rich young man in Mark/ and David vs. Goliath in 1 Samuel.

Jesus Christ is Priest, Prophet and King. When we are baptized we are baptized into this identity and mission. In this episode we talk about how Christ is King. We lean into our Baptism when we acknowledge that Christ is MY King. This can't just be a pithy statement, it has to be how we live our lives. In this episode we talk about how the prophets of the Old Testament functioned to call the people to conversion and proper worship. This function is taken up by us when we lean into our baptismal identity as prophets. I end with an invitation to draw close to the heart of God.
