  • Jesus is the Goal
    2025/04/29

Welcome back To the Table. We’re wrapping up Paul’sletter to the Colossians today, finishing chapter 3 and 4. It’s not even surprising to me that we’re having a discussion about submission today – feels on par for how things have been going. Paul does mention a few different role pairings andatultimately, the point is we are all on a level playing field with Jesus. The typical “hierarchy” of roles and relationships during the time and today are nonexistent with Jesus. We all look to Him alone. We’re all here to honor and glorify Him. Full stop. Jesus. He’s the goal.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 – For this light momentary afflictionis preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are see but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

1 Peter 3:15 – but in your heart honor Christ the Lord asholy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.

  • On Things Above
    2025/04/22

Welcome back To the Table. Do you ever feel like youknow the right thing to do, but there’s another option that feels better? Or maybe you don’t know what to do, but your natural tendency is not usually the best way forward. Colossians 3 is for us – we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, raised to new life with Him. We need to consciously lay aside, or put to death, ourselves and put on the characteristics of Christ. We need a lot of reminding and a lot of help, but if we make the choice to follow Jesus, others will see his love through us.

    Show Notes🗒️

Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ andI no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Luke 6:45 - The good person out of the good treasure of hisheart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Proverbs 4:23 - Keep your heart with all vigilance, for fromit flow the springs of life.

Luke 8:17 - For nothing is hidden that will not be mademanifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

Romans 6:12-14 - Let not sin therefore reign in yourmortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominionover you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.

  • Complete in Him
    2025/04/15

Welcome back To the Table. We’re heading back into Colossians this week, jumping back in and pulling out some key moments from this part of the letter.

Has anyone ever given you a heads-up about something that could leave you sitting in a mess, if you’re not careful? Not like “don’t eat raw cookie dough” or “don’t take the tags off before you try it on”. The warnings Paul gives are centered around faith and confidence in Jesus, almost like he’s preparing them for what they may face – and he doesn’t want their faith to be shaken. Ultimately, he reminds them that it is all about Jesus. The rituals and traditions were “a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ” (Col. 2:17). Think about it. Where are the places in my life, that I’ve taken the focus off Jesus and placed it on performance? Or tradition? Yeah…I know. Not an easy question. But, Paul’s message was meant to encourage the church and to encourage us as well. We can take his warning and change our focus, which will ultimately help us grow closer to the substance - Jesus.

    Show Notes🗒️

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go; evenwhen he is old he will not depart from it.

Romans 14:17 - For the kingdom of God is not a matter ofeating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

James 3:16-17 - For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

  • Encouragement x 2
    2025/04/08

Welcome back To the Table. We’re going off script this week, well honestly, there’s no script – so here we are, back again 😂

After last week’s episode, we had so many people reachingout, encouraging us, and asking more questions about the topic. It was so clear – we all need encouragement. Jenna and I are back this week continuing the conversation, picking up where we left off, and offering more ways to encourage others. We’ll dive into what to do when you don’t feel like encouraging anyone; when you are the one needing to be lifted up out of whatever situation life has in, what then? God can handle your honesty, and He doesn’t want to leave you feeling defeated, defenseless, and discouraged. Listen to this week’s episode to hear more and let us know what you think!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 - Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

John 16:33 - I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

1 Peter 5:7 - casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Isaiah 41:10 - fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Deuteronomy 31:8 - It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Psalm 55:16 - But I call to God, and the Lord will save me.

Hebrews 3:13 - But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

Hebrews 10:24-25 - And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

  • Always Encouraging
    2025/04/01

Welcome back To the Table. We are joined today by guest Tiffany Mobley, and I think you will love hearing more about her story. We’re chatting about encouragement and how important it is to encourage others, in the midst of both victories and struggles. You’ll hear more about how Tiffany has personally encouraged us and some practical ways to encourage others. Just as Jenna mentions, encouragement isn’t something you can measure. Big or small, it makes a difference. If we are willing, the Lord will use us to cheer on those around us – which in turn encourages us to continue. I’m so grateful for the people in my life who have offered me so much encouragement throughout my life, and man, I hope I can be that person for someone else. Who has encouraged you? If you can, tell them this week what they mean to you. Ok, that’s enough, grab a snack and join us for this week’s conversation with Tiffany Mobley.

Welcome back To the Table. We are finishing the last few verses of Colossians today, but those verses are jam-packed full of truth. We’re chatting about suffering, stewardship, mystery, and so much more. It may seem that this message was so specifically for the Colossians, but I’m grateful that Paul includes all these details in his letter. I love that Paul shares some of his “why” with them because it sets an example for us too. Salvation is the first step, a really important one for sure, but there’s so much more. A relationship with Jesus changes you. It changes everything. We hope that studying these 28 verses over the last few weeks has helped you grow closer to Him, and in the process, helped you point others to the true source of our hope.

Tara Leigh Coble’s prayer for studying the Word:

    1. God, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
    2. God, let any knowledge I gain serve to help me love You and others more, andnot puff me up.
    3. God, help me see something new about You I've never seen before.
    4. God, correct any lies I believe about You or anything I misunderstand.
    5. God, direct my steps according to Your Word.

1 Corinthians 9: 16-18 - For if I preach the gospel, thatgives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. Matthew 28:19-20 - Go therefore and make disciplesof all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Colossians 4:12 - Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant ofChrist Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.

    2025/03/18

Welcome back To the Table. We are back in Colossians, reading more of Paul’s letter to the church at Colossae. Today is really focused on Jesus. He is before all things, created all things, and holds all things together. He is reconciling or restoring all things to himself. Because of the cross, we can go from separated, hateful, evil beings, to holy, blameless, and beyond criticism before him. There’s a lot of good stuff here, and we’re just beginning to scratch the surface. I hope this encourages you as you tackle whatever it is that awaits you this week.

Acts 4:12 - And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

2 Corinthians 5:20 - Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Welcome back To the Table. Today is the first episode of us chatting about Colossians. This is a short book of the Bible, but it is packed full of encouragement for us. It was written by Paul, an apostle, as a letter to the church at Colossae. There’s a lot in this letter and we did our best to point out just a few things we can take away from these verses. The best thing about the Word is you could read these verses with us now and see something new. If you go back and read it again next year, you’ll see new things then too. It is living & active, remember 😉 It all begins with Jesus. It’s all about Him. After we’re saved, we continue to grow and learn more about him from the Word – that’s why we’re doing this. Let’s all grow and learn together 🤍

1 Corinthians 3:6-9 – I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Proverbs 19:2 – Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way

James 2:19 – You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe—and shudder!

Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law

2 Peter 3:18 – But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Ephesians 3:16 – that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
