A prominent trend in today’s music consumption is streaming, a phenomenon that gained even more importance during the pandemic, impacting the dance music industry significantly. While festivals still thrive with their EDM-centric, visually spectacular shows, club venues have suffered, leading to the closure of the Billboard Dance Club chart due to reduced DJ feedback from large venues. Even in major cities, where nightlife is concentrated, this shift has resulted in a decrease in the volume of new dance music releases. At Party Favorz, we've felt this reduction since last year. With less music comes fewer standout hits, and many of today’s hits often sample popular tracks from 10 to 20 years ago, repurposing these melodies into new creations. However, the silver lining in fewer releases is that it allows gems like "Water" by Tyla, "Body Moving" by Eliza Rose and Calvin Harris, and Peggy Gou’s hit "(It Goes Like) Nanana" to shine, reaching a broader audience. In a different era, these tracks might have been overshadowed by a flood of new music. Exploring other dance music genres, artists have reinvigorated styles like Drum 'n' Bass. While not our personal favorite, especially in a full DJ set, it has its place. Becky Hill's "Disconnect" is so Punk Rock that the D'n'B production by Chase & Status was a natural fit for the song. Issey Cross’s "Bittersweet Goodbye" is another significant Drum 'n' Bass track, infusing the genre's energy with orchestral elements borrowed from the Verge alternative classic "Bittersweet Symphony," which got them in hot water for borrowing the string section from the Rolling Stones "The Last Time." Despite its potential, this genre can be challenging for DJs without advanced equipment to blend with contemporary dance music. Still, Drum 'n' Bass is seeing a small rebirth when we were hoping for a Breaks resurgence in mainstream dance which has shown a lot of promise lately. We'll have to wait and see what 2024 brings. Latin House has also seen a rise in popularity. Jain’s "Makeba" classic emerged as a major hit this year with the Ian Aisher remix and reminiscent of the "Macarena" with its catchy refrain. We selected Axel Paerel’s version for this set, focusing on the instrumental part that really gets people moving. This approach is similar to the initial instrumental version of "Macarena," which later had lyrics added for broader appeal. Other Latin-influenced hits include "Marianela" by Merk & Kremont x Hugel vs. Lirico En La Casa and "Let's Go" by will.i.am and J Balvin.

This ambitious endeavor involved a deep dive into our 2023 Club Fusion and Peak Hour releases to compile the most impactful dance anthems that left their mark on the dance floor and resonated as unforgettable earworms. Our selection process focused on streaming numbers from platforms like YouTube and Spotify, complemented by our own personal bias. We've bypassed conventional charts like Billboard, seeking out the true gems that define the year's dance music zeitgeist, far from the repetitive playlists of mainstream charts. Celebrating Variety: The Standout Dance Anthems of 2023 The landscape of 2023's dance music was marked by an exhilarating variety. While many tracks echo the timeless allure of House Music, this year's biggest dance hits have ingeniously woven elements from classic dance anthems into fresh, vibrant creations. This blend of homage and innovation has injected a rich diversity into today's dance music scene, moving beyond monolithic trends. 2023's Dance Music Evolution: From House Roots to 'Jump House' Innovation One standout trend we've christened at Party Favorz is "Jump House," a thrilling evolution in dance music tempo, breaking the 130 BPM ceiling and soaring towards 145 BPM (and sometimes higher). Volume 1 of our Top Dance Songs of 2023 features these high-energy tracks, including hits like cassö, Raye & D-Block Europe's massive "Prada" (142 BPM), a Techno reworking of the Rihanna classic "Disturbia" (141 BPM), Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding's "Miracle" (143 BPM), "Desire" by Calvin Harris & Sam Smith (140 BPM), "When We Were Young (The Logical Song)" by David Guetta & Kim Petras (140 BPM), and many others. These tracks blend pulsating beats with a nod to early millennium Trance, Techno, and House reminiscent of the Hard Dance era of the 2000s. Yet, this surge in BPM doesn't overshadow the enduring appeal of Future House and classic House Music. Tracks like John Summit & Hayla's "Where You Are" and Peggy Gou's "(It Goes Like) Nanana" have dominated the scene, proving that the heart of dance music still beats strong in its foundational genres. At Party Favorz, we've long championed diversity in dance music, advocating against a homogenized sound. Thankfully, 2023 has been a year of rich musical diversity, breaking away from the generic soundscapes that often dominate mainstream platforms. Exploring New Horizons: SoundCloud's Rise in the Dance Music Scene We're going to go out on the limb here and say that SoundCloud really is your best friend (even more than Spot...

While 2022 hasn't been a standout year for club music, there were still some incredible songs that deserve recognition. However, it's worth noting that many new releases seem to be dominated by a select group of artists, resulting in a familiar and somewhat stale style. This repetitive approach, often dark and somewhat depressing, has left the industry craving originality. Regardless, these two volume reprsent the best dance songs of the year for 2022. Unfortunately, new releases have been scarce, and breakout hits even rarer. Typically, we witness at least three massive hits that carry over into the following year, but this time, they are noticeably absent. Even the revival of NuDisco has become tiresome, as repetitive beats with different lyrics no longer captivate audiences. Disco, once a diverse and vibrant genre, is not accurately represented in today's music landscape. The industry lacks the juice and originality that made it so thrilling, even when sampling older songs. Will 2023 be the year that Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Rihanna, accompanied by their tours, breathe life into this stale industry? While their tours are sure to be a success, their impact on the dance floor remains uncertain. Personally, I have longed for Madonna to revisit her early sound with a modern twist, but it seems she has disregarded my advice. However, she has the potential to achieve the elusive middle-aged global #1 hit that brought Cher back to the top of the pop charts in 1998. Perhaps she will surprise us after all. Moving on to Rihanna, her contribution to the Wakanda Forever theme song was forgettable, similar to Beyoncé's delivery for Lion King. However, with her upcoming performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, new music is likely on the horizon. Let's hope it doesn't resemble "Lift Me Up" from her forthcoming album. Regarding Janet, most of the buzz revolves around her tour, though she did mention that new music is in the works. While I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, I remain doubtful. In 2023, Latino music has had a significant impact, transcending barriers and achieving tremendous crossover success across the Americas. This wave is even more substantial than the explosion of Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Shakira from 1999 to 2001. The remarkable aspect is that most of these artists are accomplishing this while singing in their native language, marking a major milestone. Remixes ranging from Big Room to House Music perfectly complement their songs. Party Favorz eagerly anticipates more from these artists,

Rest assured, this compilation includes an array of songs from various sub-genres of dance music - House Music, Tech House, Future House, Progressive House, NuDisco, to name a few. Featuring songs from top artists like Beyonce, Tiesto, Alok, Sigala, David Guetta, and more, this compilation is a testament to the resilience and vibrancy of the dance music scene in 2022. Each song in this list has left an indelible mark on the dance music scene and continues to thrill listeners on the dance floor. Whether it's Beyonce's soulful "Break My Soul" or Tiesto's catchy "Money," each track in this compilation offers a unique vibe that adds to the diverse and dynamic nature of dance music. Other standout tracks include "Love Is Gone" by SLANDER, "I Was Made For Lovin' You" by Oliver Heldens, "About Damn Time" by Lizzo, and the list goes on. These tracks capture the energy and euphoria associated with dance music, creating an intoxicating blend of beats and rhythms that never fail to get people moving. Despite the ongoing pandemic and the subsequent repercussions on various music industries, especially the dance music industry, Party Favorz continues to be a beacon of hope for the fans of the dance music genre. Our commitment to curate and compile the best dance songs has remained steadfast. While most charts have lost their relevance due to shifts in the music industry, we've managed to keep our finger on the pulse of the dance music scene. Over the past 15 years, Party Favorz has offered the most comprehensive picture of the biggest dance songs of any given year, dating back to 1999. We delve into various facets of dance music, ensuring no underground hit, fan favorite, or chart-topper is left behind. Our compilation includes bootleg remixes of popular songs that were not originally meant for the dance floor but gained traction in clubs due to their popularity on radio or streaming platforms. The dance music landscape has shifted significantly. Most record labels no longer see the need to hire professional DJs to remix their pop releases. Instead, they rely on bedroom DJs and budding producers to do the work for them. You can't put a price on that kind of publicity, and it comes at no cost to the labels. Moreover, independent releases and collaborations with professional remix outlets like Tiesto have led to the creation of many dance hits. The likes of David Guetta have remained relevant as artists continue to seek their expertise in crafting dance hits that transcend the club scene to gain popularity on radio and streaming platforms,

Our selection process for our Year's Best Dance Tracks involves meticulous research and collaboration with two DJ promotional sources, for both official remixes and unofficial bootlegs and mashups. We partner with various labels and DJs and utilize platforms such as Beatport, Traxsource, and Bandcamp to find the best beats that might not be available through traditional channels. Moreover, we keep an eye on SoundCloud to discover promising new DJ talents. Despite the thoroughness of our process, it's inevitable that some gems will slip through. In 2023, we missed out on a few fantastic tracks. The list includes "Gold" by Austin Millz & Aluna, a track we cannot praise enough; "Sunshine" by Fat Joe, DJ Khaled & Amorphous, and "Please", the final release from Jessie Ware's highly acclaimed 2020 album "What's Your Pleasure?". Ware's departure from her usual melancholic vibe towards a more positive, Disco-themed album resonated with many listeners, notably following Dua Lipa's "Future Nostalgia". Every year, Party Favorz puts together the Top Dance Songs compilation. The list includes remixed pop hits, club-worthy tracks, and standard EDM tracks that might not be commonly played on the radio but have made their mark in the niche, with substantial impact on streaming platforms and YouTube. In the dance music landscape, 2021 mirrored the trends of 2020, with Future House, Tech House, and NuDisco persistently dominating the scene, reinforcing their catchy beats into our collective musical psyche. The year 2021 marked the emergence of a new wave of DJs making significant strides. Among them, Chicago's John Summit took center stage with his profound deep house vibes resonating with a wide audience. His popular tracks such as "Sun Came Up" (in collaboration with Sofi Tukker), "Better Than This" (with Parachute Youth), and "Human" (with Echoes) propelled him into stardom, while he still maintained the charm of his 2020 hits "Deep End" and "Thin Line" (with Guz). Another standout artist was Brazil's Vintage Culture (Lukas Rafael Ruiz Hespanhol), who has been in the scene for a bit longer. After achieving a #1 Billboard Dance Club hit "In The Dark" (with Fancy Inc.) in 2019, Vintage Culture became a sought-after name for remix productions. In 2021, he remixed multiple hits including "Love Tonight" by Shouse, "Talamanca" by Burns, "Let It Go" by Louie Vega & The Martinez Brothers and Marc E. Bassy, and "Paradise" by Meduza and Dermot Kennedy. 2021 witnessed the remarkable rise of Joel Corry, who is swiftly occupying the position once dominated by Calvin Harris. Following a #6 hit in the UK with "Sorry" in 2019, he ascended further with #4 "Lonely" and #1 "Head & Heart" with MNEK in 2020, the latter being his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. Corry remixed numerous tracks in 2021, including the top hits "Bad Habits" by Ed Sheeran, "Tick Tock" by Clean Bandit, "Body" by Megan Thee Stallion, "Out Out" with Jax Jones, and "Feeling Good" by the late Nina Simone. His collaboration on "Bed" with David Guetta and Raye was among the top dance songs of 2021. We predict both Corry and Summit will continue to make waves in 2022. Keep your eyes peeled for the third and final volume of our Top Dance Songs of 2021, set to be released this coming Sunday. Follow us to be the first to know when it drops. Until then...ENJOY! This final volume has a more laidback feel overall and that's because many of the tracks included in these sets are pop hits that were never intended for the dance floor. Nevertheless, the songs are culturally important and resonate with so many people that it's inevitable the label either commissions official remixes or aspiring DJ/producers remix the tracks for their own sets. You'd think that with everything on lockdown, there wouldn't be that much great dance club music but far from it. That's not to say that there was as much during the second half of the year but we still had more than enough to fill our typical three-volume year-end series. If anything positive came out of 2020 — it would be musical styles in popular and dance music have started to give way to more diversity in their offerings. I realize that many of the songs in this series rely heavily on a formulaic Future House sound and the likes of Joel Corry, J Bruus, Colin Jay, Cosmic Dawn, Division 4 & Matt Consola, Ray Isaac, and Charlie Lane have perfected that sound but to their credit — they're serving up dance floor earworms for tracks that otherwise would never get remixed. Probably one of the most exciting remixes this year was for WAP by DJ Ranny. Yes, there were several unofficial remixes out there but none added to the excitement and party nature of the song. When Ranny sent his take over — I was bowled over as I immediately knew he hit a home run! It's a shame it couldn't have been enjoyed more on dance floors across the globe because it was a surefire winner. I think Dua Lipa tapped into something with the direction of music by digging into the 70s Disco, 80s Dance, and 90s House Music to create a feel-good escape on her sophomore effort "Future Nostalgia." Doja Cat equally did a great job of keeping our heads nodding to a slinky disco beat. Don't be surprised if Madonna finally — after all these years of begging her — goes back to her roots and delivers a carefree album that taps into the energy of her debut album. I'll lay down good money on it. In the interim, I hope everyone is enjoying this mega time capsule of the year 2020 with all the good, bad and ugly this year will be known for decades to come. We have one more set to close the year out and I'll do my best to make it one roof-raising floor scorcher for all my party people. Until then...ENJOY!
