This week on the Transforming Construction podcast, Steve had the pleasure of speaking with Avery Bang. Avery is the President and CEO of Bridges to Prosperity. She believes that every person has a right to safe access –and the innovative, scalable approach Bridges to Prosperity’s embraces is built to act on that belief. Since joining Bridges to Prosperity as a volunteer in 2006, she’s worked alongside a growing team of leaders and game-changers who, in partnership with isolated communities around the world, provide safe year-round access to education, healthcare, and markets through pedestrian bridge-building.
From an early age, Avery has been passionate about engineering and legos. She pursued her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a BA in Studio Art at the University of Iowa and later completed a graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. Avery has taught Cable-Supported Pedestrian Bridge Design at the University of Colorado in the Mortenson Center for Engineering in Developing Communities, and in 2016, she took a sabbatical to complete an MBA at the University of Oxford, where she served as the Managing Director for the Oxford Seed Fund. Avery is full of energy and ideas and her drive allows her to make a significant impact on communities throughout the world.
