    In this episode, we speak to ArtSpan’s Executive Director Joen Madonna about what it means to celebrate 50 years of SF Open Studios. Shrey Purohit is the artist and curator, who comes to ArtSpan with a deep appreciation for mobilizing community and advancing the careers of emerging artists. ArtSpan believes in the power of art to enrich lives. For 50 years, ArtSpan has championed an inclusive art experience and provided diverse audiences with an authentic connection to local art and artists. The SFOS Exhibition hosts a number of in-person events, including ArtLaunch, the SF Open Studios kick-off celebration, on September 19, and a collector event on October 2, 2024. First, we speak to Director and Producer, Erica Tanamachi and Executive Producer, Diane Quon, about their documentary Home Court. CAAM-funded Home Court is a story of an All-American baller Ashley Chea following her pursuit of college level hoop dreams. In the three years this film follows her, we witness the highs and lows of her Cambodian immigrant family’s experiences in America.     In this episode, we bring you a conversation with Ronald R. Sundstrom. Ron is Professor of Philosophy at the University of San Francisco. He is also a member of USF’s African American Studies program, teaches for the university’s Honors College, and is the Humanities Advisor for the SF Urban Film Festival. His research focuses on the philosophy of race and the related areas of racism, xenophobia, and mixed-race identity; political philosophy and urban policy; and figures in African American political theory, especially Frederick Douglass.
