James states: What causes fights and quarrels among us? Don't they come from our desires that battle within us? We want something but don't get it. We kill and covet, but we cannot have what we want. We quarrel and fight. We do not have, because we do not ask God. When we ask,we do not receive, because we ask with wrong motives, that we may spend what we get on our pleasures.

In today’s scripture we see Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit in thedesert, where for forty days he was tempted. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. The error said to him, if you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread. Jesus answered, it is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.

HOW OUR ERRORS HYPNOTIZE US: However, Psalms 91tells us: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord,"He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely, he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
