America is experiencing a shift in its relationship with organized religion. Those who identify as “spiritual but not religious” are growing in number rapidly. But what does it mean to be spiritual? Can we be spiritual without being part of a faith community, or is the divine most intimately experienced in community with others?
In this episode of “Even Here,” we explore what it means to be a spiritual in the 21st century, and how that reflects in our attitudes about the world around us, including organized religion. We talk with four experts in the area of spiritual practice to get their sense of what the spiritual landscape in today’s America really looks like, and what it means for our future together.
