In this episode, Jen and I discuss healing inner child wounds. Inner child healing is a therapeutic approach that focuses on addressing unresolved emotions, experiences, and traumas from childhood that may be impacting a person’s life as an adult. This form of healing helps individuals connect with the “inner child”—the part of themselves that holds the memories, beliefs, and feelings from early years. By recognizing and nurturing this part, people often uncover root causes of limiting beliefs, patterns, and emotional responses that were formed as coping mechanisms in childhood.Key goals of inner child healing include:Self-Awareness: Identifying childhood events, traumas, or unmet needs that might have shaped current behavior, reactions, and emotional challenges.
Self-Compassion: Learning to nurture and validate the inner child’s emotions rather than dismissing or ignoring them.
Reparenting: Providing the support, understanding, and safety to the inner child that may have been lacking during childhood. This can include setting healthy boundaries and reinforcing self-worth.
Emotional Release: Processing and releasing pent-up emotions tied to past experiences so they no longer have a hold on the individual’s current life.
This type of healing can be explored in therapy or through practices like guided visualization, journaling, meditation, and self-reflection. It's particularly useful for anyone feeling "stuck" or grappling with recurring issues in relationships, self-esteem, or self-care.
