Truth has become a casualty in today’s world—from "little white lies" to character assassination, deception is everywhere, even within church communities. In this message on the Ninth Commandment, we explore why God calls us not to give false testimony and how this command still shapes our lives today. Gossip (the whispered lie), slander (the weaponized lie), and flattery (the whitewashed lie) are all ways we compromise truth, damaging relationships and grieving God. From the Garden of Eden to our daily decisions, deception often stems from doubting God's goodness and trying to take control through dishonesty. Many believers don’t realize how these small compromises can hinder their prayers or spiritual growth, yet Scripture warns that God hates a lying tongue (Proverbs 6:16–19). True change begins not with behavior modification but heart transformation. As we follow Jesus—the way, the truth, and the life—our words begin to reflect His character, building others up with grace and truth (Colossians 4:6).
