  • EPISODE 433: THE MONKEY
    2025/06/10
Alright haomies...this episode we review Oz Perkins' film adaption of the Stephen King short story, THE MONKEY.

And of course we get into it about a bunch of other films and non sequiturs.
Pre-show which is available exclusively to our Patreon members has even more unedited and off the wall discussions, including our experience seeing a charming band called Chat Pile here in sunny San Diego.

Up next we wrap up a little series of King adaptations with THE DEAD ZONE (1983).

"Everybody dies. Some of us peacefully and in our sleep, and some of us... horribly. And that's life. Did you know that 27 percent of all English-speaking people will either say 'horseshit' or 'holy shit' before they die? Now, it's funny, because death is the one big thing that'll happen to all of us, and yet we still can't help but be somehow surprised by it." It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 433!

  • EPISODE 433: THE NIGHT FLIER
    2025/05/18
Greetings from the 9th Circle of Hell!

Every now ad then the Lord of WGT Patreon (you should join btw) picks a movie for us to watch and review. And so it came to pass that Lord Hans bestowed us with a choice between the 1997 HBO movie adaptation of Stephen King's The Night Flier, or The Dread Central production, Benny Loves You. As you can see, we decided on the former. Worry not friends, as we of course make sure to address our reasoning behind this critical decision on the episode.

Once this this little series of King adaptations is wrapped up we get into the 1980 Ken Russell directed Paddy Chayefsky written psych/scifi horror freakout of ALTERED STATES before weighing in on Ryan Coogler's 2025 genre-mashup runaway hit, SINNERS.

“He was wearing a big cloak he was. Red as a fire engine inside, black as a woodchuck's asshole outside. And when it spread out behind him, it looked like a goddamn bat's wing it did. After talking to these crazy people all day every single day, their stories can get to you. Creep in like some fucking cancer and pretty soon, all this starts making sense.” It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 433!

  • 1: EPISODE 432: UNHINGED
    2025/04/26
Why did we do this movie? Well, primarily because it was the only way to make Jorge watch it. Secondly because, to quote King Hans, "coffee cup smash face."

Enjoy! King Pick selection for the 1997 Stephen King adaptation The Night Flier up next after this, followed by The Monkey, and yet another Stephen King adaptation after that with The Dead Zone (1983).

Then, a very special selection after that before getting into Ryan Coogler's new genre mashup, SINNERS.

"I'm sorry... but I don't think you know what a really bad day is! But you'll fucking learn. You're gonna fucking learn." It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode #432!

    2025/03/20
Well, here it is, the 2024 Retrospective, where we each give our Top 5 Favorite and Top 5 Worst genre films of the year that was 2024. We also have quite a few honorable mentions and runners up this year. This is always a blast for us.

When all was said and done all three of us were in general agreement with a great many others that 2024 was a great year for the horror genre particularly.

For fun, here were each of our Top 5 Favorite and Worst genre films the previous year, 2023: (as a reminder all three of us loved Godzilla Minus One, but only Jorge counted it in his Top 5 as a specific horror genre film)

    Jacob:
    Five Favorite: #1-When Evil Lurks, #2-Talk to Me, #3-Thanksgiving, #4-Infinity Pool, #5- Saw X
Five Worst: #1-Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, #2-The Exorcist: Believer, #3-Children of the Corn (2023), #4-Cocaine Shark, #5-Beaten to Death

    Jorge:
Five Favorite: #1-Godzilla Minus One, #2-When Evil Lurks, #3-Talk to Me, #4-Infinity Pool, #5-Project Wolf Hunting (stateside release 2023 nerds)
Five Worst: #1-The Exorcist: Believer, #2-M3GAN "M threegan dude come on", #3-Knock at the Cabin, #4-The Mill, #5-The Pope's Exorcist (this dude didn't watch any movies)

    Rhett:
    Five Favorite: #1-When Evil Lurks, #2-Talk to Me, #3-Infinity Pool, #4-Thanksgiving, #5-Birth/Rebirth
Five Worst: #1-The Exorcist: Believer, #2-Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, #3-Children of the Corn (2023), #4-Insidious: The Red Door, #5-Knock at the Cabin

Runners Up for Worst (there's always so many): Pet Sematary Bloodlines, The Meg 2, The Nun 2, The Haunted Mansion, The Outwaters
Runners Up for Favorite: all of us loved Godzilla Minus One but Jacob and Rhett excluded it from Top 5 horror, Beau is Afraid and Poor Things (both "horror adjacent"), Big Shark, Saw X (for Rhett and Jorge, #5 for Jacob), Huesera The Bone Woman, Project Wolf Hunting (for Jacob and Rhett, #5 fave for Jorge), muthafuckin Slotherhouse

  • EPISODE 430: NOSFERATU
    2025/03/09
Join us and succumb to the horny darkness of Robert Eggers' Adventures of Count Orlok and the Cucks of Wisburg!!! The fuck is Wisburg? It's the German city where the plague rats land, IDIOT!

"I have seen things in this world that would make Isaac Newton crawl back into his mother's womb! We are not so enlightened as we are blinded by the gaseous light of science. If we are to tame darkness, we must first face that it exists!"

  • EPISODE 427: SMILE 2
    2025/01/21
We're back! Just in time to help you cope with Trump 2.0
This episode we review writer/director Parker Finn's follow up to his 2022 debut, SMILE 2.

Skye Riley: Well, have you gone to the police?
Morris: And say what? My brother's suicide was actually caused by some cosmic evil being that no one else can see? The police can't stop this thing anyway.
Skye: So I'm just supposed to wait until this thing kills me?
Morris: No, I want you to help me destroy it.
    Skye: How?
Morris: From what I can tell, the chain stops when an infected host dies in some other way outside of the being's control. My guess is that, just like other parasites, without a living host it has no way to survive. It's ceases to exist.
Skye: So it only stops if--if I die before it kills me?
Morris: Exactly. We need to kill you first.
    Skye: What?!

  • EPISODE 426: LITTLE OTIK
    2025/01/10
This episode we get weird, like that's anything new, with the turn of the century Czechoslovakian dark comedy surrealist horror of LITTLE OTIK (aka Greedy Guts). Oh you've never heard of it? Good gooooooooood.

Neither had we to be honest. Credit goes to the current lord of our Patreon, King Hans! He always gives us the wildest recommendations, and we love him for it, as we do all our supporters and Patreon members.

"Show me your Otik. That's his name, isn't it? Don't worry, I won't eat him. He's our child and we have to stick by him through thick and thin." It's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 426!
