  • Opening Day
    2024/09/19

The Wing and Tail Boys are back with their 6th episode to break down what their typical day in the woods looks like, starting with the night-before-preparation. They begin the episode with a shoutout to their friend Kevin Creeley who found success in his opening weekend hunt. With his harvest, he’s on the board with the first leg of the #TriStateTrifecta down. Congrats big dawg!! The boys then go on to discuss what their last week has looked like leading up to New Jersey’s opening weekend. Chris is finishing up wrapping his gear in cloth tape to help silence it up. Angelo is primed and ready to try out some new gear upgrades including his first hunt with a camera.

After the hosts catch you up on their week past, they start to break down what a typical day of hunting looks like starting with the physical and mental prep the night prior. Chris follows a very rigid scent-control regiment including the use of scent detergents, scent covers, and ozone generators. Angelo on the other hand doesn’t utilize any scent control at all. Instead, he prefers to use the wind to his advantage when both hanging a stand and spot-and-stalking. What they both agree on, however, is the mental preparation leading into the hunt. The boys go on to break down their entire process including the walk in, scouting, changing up the plan, climbing, hanging their sets, and setting up their cameras.

Angelo and Chris continue to discuss some things they like to do in the stand to pass the time as the hours progress. Chris touches on how he uses the camera as a tool in the tree both to remain occupied as well as a tool to see what’s going on without having to use his eyes. The boys also talk about the camaraderie of hunting and different ways to share the moment. For most of us, the people you first call from the tree are the most important to you whether it be your mother or father, brother or sister, or your husband or wife. Lastly, the Boys make sure to give a BIG shoutout to their wives for their support.
