Dr. Richard Alpert, a former Harvard professor and Timothy Leary cohort, was an icon of the hippie, LSD-fueled revolution of the 1960s. Thereafter, on a trip to India—like Clark Kent changing into Superman—he became the much-beloved spiritual teacher Baba Ram Das. His 1970s iconic book Be Here Now turned on a generation to the deep, non-sectarian spirituality within us all.

Neem Karoli Baba known as Maharaj-ji—was a guru, mystic and devotee of Hanuman. Throughout history, some of the most thoughtful minds have advocated that life does not end with the death of our body, but continues via a process known as reincarnation. The Vedic literature of India advocates that the soul, or atma, gives life to the body. Life does not arise from a particular combination of material elements as some modern scientists theorize. At the time of death, we leave one body and enter a new one. That is called reincarnation.

The Book of the Dead is an ancient Egyptian funerary text written on papyrus and used from the beginning of the New Kingdom. The book was placed in the coffin or burial chamber of the deceased, and was part of a tradition of funerary texts which includes the earlier Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts, which were painted onto objects, not written on papyrus. A number of the spells which make up the Book continued to be separately inscribed on tomb walls and sarcophagi, as the spells from which they originated always had been.

The Six Goswamis of Vrindavan was a group of scholars and devotees who lived in Vrindavan during the 16th century. The group consisted of Rupa Goswami, Sanatana Goswami, Jiva Goswami, Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami, and Raghunatha Dasa Goswami. They were instrumental in the development of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition and the spread of the Bhakti yoga movement. They were known for their scholarship, devotion, and austere lifestyle, and were revered by the people of Vrindavan and beyond.
