27. The Mystery of Music with Matt Easton

  • サマリー

  • I’m joined by Matt Easton, a talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. We discuss our personal connections through music and share stories about Matt's journey with his band, The Jenny Thing, and their most recent album release after a long hiatus. The conversation delves into the creative processes behind songwriting, how music serves as a companion in life's most emotional moments, and the universal allure and mystery of music. Touching on profound themes such as the power of shared musical experiences, we also explore embracing creativity in different stages of life. The episode concludes with a special treat! [Thank you to Peter Hatch for joining us!]

Matt’s description of himself: I’m a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music lover. In the ‘90s I made three albums and played hundreds of shows at colleges and clubs throughout California with my band, The Jenny Thing. I’ve written quite a bit solo, too. In 2021, after a 20-year layoff, The Jenny Thing pulled back together and released a fourth album.

Being now in my 50s, I have learned to not-too-angstily observe myself move through a cycle of falling away from being “a maker,” and then falling back into it. In the meantime and with some intention, I’m always trying to find my fandom in music and culture, whether it’s nostalgic, popular, high, or low.

thejennything.com and available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all the usual channels. (Matt Easton Love Ambition Demo available in the same places and has “The Promise” on it.)
