388: Unmet Expectations

  • サマリー

  • Do you ever get frustrated when things don't go as planned, especially when you're hoping for something simple, like having a meal together with your family?

I recently had one of those moments. After fasting for Yom Kippur, I had this picture-perfect idea of breaking the fast with my family around the dinner table. But as I walked home from prayer services, I started to fume, convinced that they’d already started eating without me.

Instead of letting the frustration boil over, I used a tool I created called The CLEAR Way, which helped me prepare for whatever I might walk into. And I’m so glad I did, because when I got home, my boys were sitting at the kitchen island, already eating! 😤

But because I had mentally prepared myself, I calmly asked if they’d like to sit down at the table with me. And guess what? They did.

It wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t turn into a drama. I didn’t get mad, I didn’t hold a grudge—and that made all the difference.

Handling unmet expectations without spiraling into frustration is possible for all of us. It just takes some practice and the right tools. 🎯
