Dom Turner’s new venture The Rural Blues Project hybridizes and arranges 20th Century rural blues music by traditional artists such as Lead Belly, Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson, and breathing new life for 21st century audiences. The latest album “Sit Tight” that went to #1 in the Australian Blues and Roots Charts and stayed in the charts for 12 months. Joining Dom is legendary drummer Rosscoe Clark (Foreday Riders, Cyril B Bunter) with occasional special guests and either Johnny G on accordion and keyboards, or George Washingmachine on violin. Dom Turner, just returned from presenting workshops in the US, is a multi-award-winning blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and founding member of iconic Australian blues group, Backsliders (with Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil). Dom Turner is noted for his exceptional musicality and diverse cross-cultural collaborations including the popular international collaboration of The Turner-Brown Band, Phil Wiggins and Dom Turner, and RL Boyce and Dom Turner. He is a popular performer at music festivals and blues and roots venues around Australia and internationally.
