Ashley and her husband have always loved the concept of Airbnb. It felt cozier than a hotel, perfect for groups, and empowered everyday people to earn money by renting out their properties. So, when they were ready to buy their first home, they wanted it to serve as their primary residence and as a short-term rental—an exciting pursuit for them.

Then COVID hit, and everything changed. Ashley was a traveling sales professional, frequently on the road. However, at the start of the pandemic, her husband was diagnosed with a serious autoimmune disorder. In a twist of timing, Ashley’s company had just grounded the entire organization from work travel. This period, where she focused on supporting her husband and working remotely, made her realize she needed a career change. With her husband’s support, Ashley decided to step away from her corporate job and launch a business focused on short-term rentals. Their goal was simple: make it easier for everyday people to become short-term rental investors. Through this vision, extensive research, and hard work, Chalet was born.

He has lived in Spain, Boston, St. Maarten in the Caribbean, and now San Diego and started investing remotely in multi-family properties in Wisconsin in 2018. Elizabeth began house hacking in 2016 prior to knowing the proper term. In 2018, She bought her first investment property, a historic home in Augusta, GA with a carriage house in the back yard. After minor renovations and furnishing, she rented the home doing mid-term rentals while re-designing, completely renovating, and furnishing the carriage house. In 2019, She bought a quadplex and did cosmetic renovations keeping with the same formula of mid-term furnished rentals.
