Start your day with rituals that make you feel powerful and alive.   Mornings are a busy time for many families just getting everyone out of the door on time.   On the other hand, you and your kids may be spending your days at home. That can be just as stressful as commuting, especially if you’re concerned about your health and finances.   The specific habits you choose will depend on your values and goals. Start small and have fun experimenting. Consider these ideas for morning rituals designed to help you thrive.   Empowering Morning Rituals for Your Body:   Skip the snooze button. Do you feel groggy even after 8 hours of sleep? The trouble could be your snooze button. It interrupts your body’s natural waking process. That can cause sleep inertia that lasts for hours.Drink water. You may want to postpone your first cup of coffee. Plain water will rehydrate your organs and make you feel more alert. You can add a little flavor with berries, herbs, or cucumber slices.Eat breakfast. You also need to refuel. Enjoy a balanced meal of traditional breakfast foods or heat up some leftovers. Smart choices include Greek yogurt with fruit or a fish taco.Work out. Complete your main exercise session or move around a little, especially if you’ll be sitting at a computer for hours. Choose an activity that you love, like yoga or swimming.Weigh yourself. If you’re trying to lose excess weight, stepping on the scale each day may help. Keep in mind that daily fluctuations are natural, so look for upward or downward trends.Go outdoors. Morning light wakes up your body and starts a hormone cycle that prepares you for restful sleep at night. Sit on your patio or bike to work.  Empowering Morning Rituals for Your Mind:   Avoid technology. Resist the urge to lose yourself in social media. Turn off your phone or check for urgent messages only.Be prepared. Starting on tasks the night before can make your mornings more pleasant. Lay out your clothes and pack your briefcase.Meditate and pray. Nourish your spirituality. If you’re a beginner, start with a few minutes of meditation and build up your time gradually.Repeat affirmations. Give yourself loving and motivational messages. Speak in the present tense and keep your statements brief. Looking in the mirror can help you focus.Connect with loved ones. Enjoy family time. Play a word game with your kids while you’re helping them get dressed. Tell your partner that you love them.Cultivate gratitude. Count your blessings. Think of someone who you need to thank today. Continue learning. You could use your mornings to complete your degree online or study more informally. Listen to history and economics podcasts. Read high quality fiction or nonfiction.Have a project. Do you struggle to find time for yourself? The early hours may be an opportunity to engage your personal passions or expand your side gig.Listen to music. Research shows that listening to music reduces anxiety and enhances mental alertness and memory. Put together a personal playlist or turn on your favorite radio station. Plan your day. Set goals and block out your time. Otherwise, external events can keep you from focusing on your true priorities. Remember to leave yourself adequate downtime for refreshing breaks.  Kick off your day with a morning routine that will make you feel more productive and fulfilled. Adopt positive habits and jump out of bed with a smile.

  • Random Acts of Kindness Will Change EVERYTHING

Podcast: Random Acts of Kindness Will Change EVERYTHING   Free Circle of Life quiz by visiting www,elevatelifeproject.com/life/   Balance and Self Care Course  https://elevatelifeproject.com/balance-and-self-care-e-coaching/    If you liked this Podcast, please subscribe in Itunes and write us a review.  This is what helps us stand out, so more people can find this show.  To Write us a Review please open up this Podcast in the Itunes Store  on your computer and search for Living Life on Purpose    Click here to like us on www.facebook.com/MichaelMukundaKohan   This is where you will receive updates on what is happening at The Elevate Life Project as well as handouts and upcoming events.   Show Notes   Random Acts of Kindness Will Change EVERYTHING!   When you grow up in a small community, you realize that helping others isn’t something you do, but it’s just the way you are.   Running errands, going to the shop for items missed off the shopping list, helping neighbors with their garden, or cleaning their car gives you a sense of belonging and purpose.   In this modern, high speed world, where it seems hardly anybody knows their neighbors, random acts of kindness are a wonderful way to re-connect you with what’s really important in life.   Random acts of kindness can be defined as, “Something selfless that you do to help another being that they cannot do themselves, without any expectation of reward and without any fanfare or publicity. Just because you can.”   They have the most wonderful ripple effect! It all starts with a smile and a hello, which can be very contagious.   What’s In It For You?   The true reward in carrying out random acts of kindness comes from the feelings of fulfilment and satisfaction you get from helping someone or something. These feelings are both priceless and lasting.   Once you get into it on a conscious level and start looking for people to help, you begin to realize that this is really what life is all about: What we can make of ourselves through service to others, when there is absolutely nothing to be gained by it, other than what it can make of you as a person.   As soon as your awareness is activated, you start seeing opportunities for random acts of kindness everywhere. It will make you think differently, right from the get-go, and once you start taking advantage of those opportunities to help, it will change you as a person, for the better.   You can add some panache to your random acts of kindness by carrying them out without the recipient knowing.   Consider this story…   The Teenagers and the Elderly Lady   A group of teenagers had an elderly lady living on their street who had not painted her house for 30 years.   They noticed that every Thursday morning she went somewhere on the bus and didn’t come home until 6 pm in the evening. So, with military precision, they planned to jet-wash her entire house, clean the brickwork and paint the house starting as soon as she got on the bus the next Thursday morning, and be finished by the time she got home in the evening.   Sure enough, the old lady stuck to her routine. She got off the bus and at about 6 pm, she came walking down the road. The team were hiding in the garden opposite to see what happened.   She didn’t notice that her house had been painted until she walked through the front gate. She immediately turned and walked out again because she thought she was in the wrong house. She stared at the house in disbelief and looked up and down the empty street trying to make some sense of it.   Eventually she put her key in the door and went inside. Everyone in the street knew what had happened, but nobody said a thing.   The teenagers got such a kick out of their secret random act of kindness that they returned the following Thursday to dig and plant the garden!   There’s definitely a buzz to helping people!   How Can You Start?   Once you get started, doing random acts of kindness becomes a welcome and satisfying lifestyle!   Try these techniques:   Start small. Smile at people and say hello at every opportunity. You might be the only person who has acknowledged them that week. Then, just pick up a piece of trash when you see it, rather than leave it blowing in the wind.Stop and talk with older people. There is much to learn from old folks and talking is one of the few things they can easily engage in during later years. We will all be there soon enough, and when we do arrive, we will be grateful for the people that acknowledge our worth in the community.Open a door for someone.Carry some groceries.Help someone down the steps or across the road.  It’s Addictive and Contagious   The more you do it the better you will feel, and the more you do it, the more others will follow your lead.   Take full responsibility for how and where you show up in life. Do the right thing for no other reason than the fact that you CAN. Especially when nobody is watching. It’s called ...

This might seem rather mundane.    Most of us were either taught or came to believe that success is a rare combination of talents that only a few people are lucky enough to be born with. Each of us knows someone successful, but can’t quite put our finger on why they’re so successful.   Could it just be the right habits?   It can. But it’s not just having the positive habits. It’s avoiding negative habits, too. Unsuccessful people are just as skilled, only they’re skilled at avoiding success by engaging in poor habits.   Over time, it’s your habits that ultimately determine your success.   The good news is that habits are learned behaviors. Just as you learned to brush your teeth or get out of bed each morning, you can learn the habits of success.   The bad news is that habits can be tricky to install and maintain. Bad habits are hard to break. However, if you can enhance these two skills, you can live the life you’ve always wanted.    Before we get started, let’s consider what a habit actually is.   The dictionary defines a habit as “a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up”. So, a habit is just something that you do regularly. You do it with little mental effort, like brushing your teeth.   Making 100 cold calls each day can be a habit. But being miserable throughout the process suggests that it’s not a true habit, since it would be easy to give up.   So, we’re not just talking about doing something useful on a regular basis. We’re talking about making it a comfortable part of your routine. That makes all of this a little more challenging. “We can use decision-making to choose the habits we want to form, use willpower to get the habit started, then - and this is the best part – we can allow the extraordinary power of habit to take over. At that point, we're free from the need to decide and the need to use willpower.”- Gretchen Rubin   The 9 Success Habits Each successful person has a ...
