Welcome back to In Biolog for episode 6. Our guests today are Drs. May and Tim Hindmarsh.
May and Tim are a dual physician power couple who are both Board Certified Family Practice Physicians. They have practiced rural medicine, hospital, OB, and outpatient medicine for almost 30 years.
They were born, raised, and trained in Canada and migrated to the US in 1994. Currently, they practice Urgent Care and are enjoying the adventures of podcasting as hosts of their own show, BS Free MD.
They can also be spotted living their best life via their social channels which we have linked below.
The goal of this episode was to extract what it’s like for physicians to operate in the healthcare system. I think there are a lot of misconceptions about what it’s like to work in this industry and perhaps to your surprise, many physicians are as frustrated as their patients if not more so.
We talk about their transition away from primary care and what drove them to make that change, how the environment and culture in the US makes it harder, not easier to be healthy, and why direct primary care is such a great model while being largely unheard of by patients in this country.
If you want to get an inside look at what it’s like to operate as a physician, learn more about direct primary care, and hear some progressive thoughts on how preventative care should be handled, this will be a great episode for you.
I hope you enjoy my conversation with Drs. May and Tim Hindmarsh.
