    2022/06/02
In this episode, we are celebrating the contribution of women in history, in the arts and in society. We believe that as long as women are not treated fairly or as equal to men, we will always need to celebrate women. That includes having a women’s day, a women’s month. Anything that honors women and emphasizes our greatness. In this episode, your It Takes Moxy hosts discuss women who have been influential in their own lives, as well as women who have shaped the cultural, political, and historical landscape, and, in the process, have deeply touched the lives of not just the Moxy women, but many. You’ll hear about several women who represent Luriko’s bi-racial background. From Abuelita Inés, the matriarch of Luriko’s Colombian-side of the family, to her Japanese grandmother who was one of the rare women to graduate with her degree all the way back in 1926 in Japan! You’ll also learn more about women who have had a massive impact on bilingual childrens’ books and libraries, and discover a Japanese American plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court case that ultimately led to the closing of American concentration camps that held 120,000 American citizens of Japanese descent. Dr. Priya shares her admiration of Vandana Shiva, whose work in biodiversity in agriculture earned her recognition as an “environmental hero” by Time Magazine in 2003. And Maria Elizabeth shares her respect for Sor Juana Inez De La Cruz, a nun, ahead of her time, like no other. Maria Elizabeth also shares how her Maternal Matriarch was the Mexican Uber of the 1980’s. • In Your Element (Part I): How the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affect Your Health EP 4
    2022/04/21
Do you know what "element" you are? Discover what Element you are by listening to Part 1 of “In Your Element” episode where the Moxy women describe each of the 5 Elements in detail! In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we have what's called the 5 Elements; it’s both a medical and personality philosophy that gives us insight about ourselves. The 5 elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Each Element represents a certain constitution type - from the physical look, tendencies of emotional expressions, flavor preferences, and even health symptoms and medical condition tendencies and much more. For example, if you're the Wood type, you tend to be tall and lanky (like a tree!), are a leader or the entrepreneur type but can have tendencies towards anger/irritability issues and liver conditions if you're out of balance. By knowing your Element, it'll help you understand why you are the certain way you are and also understand your health tendencies.    In Part 2 of “In Your Element,” we will then go into detail on how to take a proactive approach to address the imbalances of your Element to bring you back to balance, so be on the lookout for the drop of Part 2!   As mentioned in the episode, if you want to take a quiz and find out more about your Element, email mariaelizabeth@ittakesmoxy.com for a PDF copy! Once you figure out your dominant Element, share with us in our social media!
