  • Repairing the racial pay gap with Dr. David Hayes-Bautista
    2023/02/18

This episode is by Clarissa Wing with the help of Jarrett Ramones.
    Opening Narration by Katelyn Chang.
    Episode art by Nancy Aguilar-Aquino.
    Social media by Fátima Ramirez.

Welcome to Mind the Gap, a podcast series created by the fellows of Youth Leadership Institute's 2022-2023 Calafia Fellowship. Mind the gap gives suppressed voices a platform to express the inequalities of society and addresses how we can combat them.

This episode is focused on the topic of racial pay gaps in the U.S. and their effect on minority groups. We often hear about the gender pay gap in our society but do not address the racial pay gap nearly as much. Host, Clarissa Wing, invites Dr. David Hayes-Bautista, the director of the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture at the School of Medicine at UCLA, to uncover the history of the racial pay gap.
