    David A. Fiellin, MD, is a professor of medicine, emergency medicine and public health at Yale. He directs the Yale program in addiction medicine and is vice chief for faculty affairs, general internal medicine. He is an internal medicine physician with board certified in addiction medicine. He conducts research focused on improving access to treatment for unhealthy substance use in general medical settings including office-based practice, primary care, emergency departments, hospitals and HIV specialty settings. He is editor-in-chief is of the Journal of Addiction Medicine and served as co-editor of the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s textbook, Principles of Addiction Medicine, fourth, fifth and sixth editions.
