  • Comforter | #30
    2025/05/30

On this solo episode of the Restore Healthcare Podcast, Dr. Kang reflects on what it means to be comforted by the Holy Spirit as a healthcare professional. Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit to us as a distinct person—one whose role includes being our Comforter, often in a nurturing, almost motherly way. Dr. Jenn shares a personal story of parenting her son, Judah, as a picture of what it can feel like to be unglamorously comforted by the Holy Spirit. It's not always a dramatic, miraculous moment; sometimes, it’s quiet, simple, and deeply meaningful. In the healthcare world, pain and loss can plant seeds of lies. The Holy Spirit comes gently, bringing both truth and comfort—right into those very places. While suffering is real, God offers a promise that often comes through our connection with the Spirit. Patients, doctors, nurses, surgeons—we all need that comfort.

  • Nursing as a Form of Worship | #29
    2025/05/23

On this episode of the Restore Healthcare Podcast, Dr. Kang is joined by registered nurse Bex Lawton.Together, they explore Bex’s background in pediatric nursing—and how her deeper focus became the connection between parents and their children in care. Called to nursing from a young age, Bex shares how her understanding of what it means to be a nurse has evolved through her relationship with the Holy Spirit. She also shares a powerful, original poem about nursing as an act of worship. There’s a symphony of praise we can offer the Lord—beyond music—that flows into our work and daily lives, even in healthcare. As healthcare professionals, we’re called to see people as made in the image of God. It’s not always easy or perfect, but when we truly see people, they often encounter Jesus—without a single word spoken—in the exam room, the operating table, or the recovery ward. Bex offers insight on finding quiet moments to pray and stay connected to the Lord, even while caring for patients. When Dr. Kang asks where Bex most often sees Jesus in her work, her answer will resonate with anyone looking for God’s presence in the heart of healthcare.

  • Intro to Connection Culture | #28
    2025/05/16

On this episode of the Restore Healthcare Podcast, Dr. Kang explores the link between connection and healthcare. Sharing a story from medical school, she reflects on the loss of a patient and the chaotic process of grief among medical professionals. In medicine’s culture, blame often leads to perfectionism and relentless striving. But we’re not meant to be perfect—and there’s real freedom in embracing that truth.Western medicine, shaped by religious performance culture, often values measurement over connection. But what if we nurtured connection instead? Tools like Holy Spirit guidance, connection assessments, and strong communication can help build safer environments where professionals learn and grow without fear. Performance-driven cultures don’t deliver whole-person care—connection does. Innovation, growth, and true healing flow when we live from who I am is who I am becoming, not from perfectionism.

  • Dual-Realm Healthcare Core Value Part 4 | #27
    2025/05/09

On this episode of the Restore Healthcare Project, Dr. Kang is joined by a familiar favorite, registered nurse, Paul Manwaring. On this part of their Dual-Realm Healthcare series, Dr. Kang & Paul Manwaring dive into the 4th core value of Dual-Realm healthcare. They highlight all the overlap and synergy between healing that comes through modern medicine and healing that comes divinely. They point out that in fact, there is NO distinction between them, as God is present and working in all iterations of healing care that is given with love and received by faith. They discuss tensions and misperceptions about what is the superior way to be healed, and Paul tell's his own story about how he was healed supernaturally by surgery. Dr. Kang tells the tragic story of a little girl who died as the result of her parents and church family refusing her the recommended medical care because they were believing only for divine healing. They discuss that it is actually often pride or fear (not faith) that leads some to disregard doctor's recommendations and insist only on divine healing, not realizing that God may have been right there ready to heal through the doctors they rejected. Ultimately, they affirm this core belief that the best of medicine IS the best of Jesus, and that the best of Jesus can also be found within the best of medicine.
