  • A Conversation with "Flashback Girl"
    2021/02/28
We are talking with Dr. Lise Deguire author of the brilliant, heartbreaking, yet inspiring new book, Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience from a Burn Survivor.  In 1967, when Lise was only 4 years old, she was burned over 65% of her body and spent most of her childhood in the hospital, undergoing countless surgeries and enduring more trauma than any human being should have to endure. It's important to remember that in 1967, burn victims were not put in medically induced comas to shield them from the pain. In fact, children were not given ANYTHING for the pain. After Lise left the hospital, her life didn’t get easier. She dealt with disfigurement, bullying, parental neglect and family suicides. This would be enough to break anyone. But incredibly, Lise did not only persevere, but has become successful in every sense of the word.  Lise attended Tufts University and later earned her doctorate in Clinical psychology from Widener University. She has a thriving private practice and a wonderful husband and two amazing daughters.  But before all this, she went through virtual hell and in this episode we to talk to her about the details of that fateful day in 1967, the toxic relationship she had with her mother, the suicide of her favorite person in the world, and of course, the many lessons she learned in resilience.  We strongly urge everyone to read Lise's book. It will leave you inspired and in awe. • Plant Medicine with The Chocolate Shaman
    2021/02/14
Most of us know that cacao is considered a super food—in fact it has the highest antioxidant content of any food. But there is so much more to cacao and we were eager to learn more!  We're talking with Keith Wilson, also known as The Chocolate Shaman. Originally a geologist, Keith traveled to Guatemala and in 2003 decided to make it his home doing energy work, healing work and all the things he loved to do.  One day sitting by the river, he has a visit from The Chocolate Spirit. Keith realized that he had been invited by this Spirit to reintroduce cacao, this plant with powerful medicinal properties to a world that had, for the most part, forgotten about it.  With the help of the Chocolate Spirit, Keith was able to locate the cacao he would work with it and began experimenting with it and producing it the way it was made thousands of years ago. After a few months he began passing it around to others.  Well, people started sharing their journeys with Keith about what they experienced with the chocolate.  Keith began holding workshops and still does so today. He also manages the production crew in Guatemala to produce ceremonial grade cacao for his company, Keith’s cacao.   In this episode we talk with Keith about his experience with the Chocolate Spirit, the benefits of cacao, it’s important role in the world and why it's called "The Food for the Shift." Tune into this fascinating conversation!  Connect with Keith https://www.keithscacao.com (https://www.keithscacao.com) https://ceremonialcacao.blogspot.com/ (https://ceremonialcacao.blogspot.com/) Connect with Carol and Deb https://thedivinebreadcrumb.com (https://thedivinebreadcrumb.com) https://www.instagram.com/thedivinebreadcrumb/ (https://www.instagram.com/thedivinebreadcrumb/) https://www.facebook.com/thedivinebreadcrumb (https://www.facebook.com/thedivinebreadcrumb) https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-divine-breadcrumb/ (https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-divine-breadcrumb/) Support this podcast
