  • #8 | Well... The Polls Were Wrong...Again!
    2024/11/12
So the 2024 American election is at an end, in a result which seen Donald Trump be re-elected as President. One big takeaway from the last week of the campaigns was that the polls just cannot seem to poll Trump voters accurately. What is the reason behind that? Recapping how it played out, Alan Lichtman's keys not working, and was this actually always on the card after what's happened this year and the change of candidate for the Democrat party. That and more covered over the course of an hour in this last episode of a somewhat three party mini series.

  • S1 | #6 | The World Will End, But FC Bishopmill Will Survive
    2024/10/22

After a week's break from doing an episode I decided to invite a few friends that I produce podcasts for on to discuss a current topical event... The upcoming U.S election, at least that was the plan. As you'll hear this was literally a podcast version of musical statues as we Segway into a new topic every five minutes before getting back to the original reason we met up to do a podcast. From FC Bishopmill to the U.S election and pretty much everything in between, all whilst munching on a bunch of sweets like the savages we are. Enjoy the chaotic minefield that is this episode, we'll see you on the other side.

  • S1 | #5 | Being Estranged From A Parent
    2024/10/08
Back to the regular format this week. In today's episode I talk about my experience of having an estranged parent. My relationship with my estranged father has been turbulent to put it lightly over the last decade. From not being in my life, to talking, to not talking again haha, to being on good terms, to deciding that it just wasn't worth it in the end. Although it ended up in the exact same way it started, I believe it was an experience I personally needed to go through and was a valuable lesson in how letting go of bitterness is one of the biggest freedoms you can give yourself.

  • S1 | #4 | The Last Minute Ramble Hour
    2024/10/01

So remember when I said that it would be back to having a more prepared episode than last minute in episode three? Well delay that a week haha. I just decided to sit down and speak in the only hour I could find throughout the week. No agenda, just rambling about my week. Everything from the evolution of the Rodecaster, to the biggest Boxing match The North East of Scotland has ever seen being announced. Enjoy, and I'll be back with with a more structured personal reflection next week!

  • S1 | #3 | A Bigger Nicotine Addict I Have Yet To Meet
    2024/09/24

After a long week, I finally managed to get this episode recorded. Today I'm talking about nicotine addiction. For the longest time, I've been making attempts to free myself of nicotine. From using every nicotine replacement therapy product you can think of, to stopping cold turkey, to even attending a seminar on stopping. Alas, I have yet to be able to maintain stopping completely. A story shared probably by most who are smokers or any nicotine equivalent substitute. I talk about growing up around smoking, the attitude change society has had towards it over the course of time, my experience of smoking, and then stopping but falling for the substitute of vaping, and what the future looks like in regards to nicotine addiction as smoking becomes a thing of the past. Will there ever be a day the world is free of nicotine, or is it just too profitable a business for that ever to be a possibility? Apologies that this one is just me constantly branching off and going on tangents, it had been a long week!

    2024/09/17
In this episode, I relive what it was like being morbidly obese and the process of losing 200lbs over a couple years. It took me to the point of not caring about myself that much, that I was starting to have health scares with some scary symptoms, to realise how important actually keeping your health in check actually is! As well as exploring what made me want to change, what losing that much weight changed in me and what it didn't.

  • Season 1 Premiere | #1 | A Socially Awkward Introduction
    2024/09/10
Hello, my name is Ryan and welcome to The Monologue Hour. Join me every week on a Tuesday as I go on a Monologue for an hour. Whether it be personal reflections on experiences in my life thus far, giving my thoughts on what's going on in the world at the moment, and even the odd episodes where I speak to people I find interesting. As a self employed podcast producer, and someone who has been involved in podcasting in many roles over recent years, I'm incredibly excited to start my own project! So why not start your Tuesday morning the right way with a coffee, and a pair of headphones and lets get to talking! In this maiden episode of The Monologue Hour, I get into why starting a podcast, especially solo podcasting is such an intimidating prospect for people, including me! Why do we get so anxious about starting? Do we put an unrealistic expectation on ourselves? Feeling the need to have a "Host" type persona, procastination holding us back, and the reality to remind us there's no pressure as no one is listening in the beginning. Lets get to talking about all of the above!
