The Way of the Mason- Wyatt Guzato

  • サマリー

  • "If you are gonna move 10,000 pounds, move it once."

"It ok to reach for perfection knowing I'm gonna fall short, but I'm gonna have a great time while I'm doing it."

"the truth hurts, when you want to tell the truth about the world or about yourself, people want to "sh sh sh" and they want to shut you down"

                                                        -Wyatt Guzato

In this episode we talk with Wyatt Guzato, a stone mason in Olympia, WA and what an amazing conversation it was.

Wyatt shares his story that will make you appreciate in a genuine way, the meaning of honest hard work. That having two hands, a back that is working is, and a job to do is something to be grateful for. He acts as a model for us all of what it means to take pride in your work, with precision. Not being sloppy, not slacking when you get tired, having high standards because he decides to.

You are probably tired of hearing this but the millennial generation and the generations that come after are losing the connection to the type of spirit that the generations before us had.  Blue collar work is an important thing, as much as we arent told this, and is something that most people will never experience in life. Wyatt talks about the shift that occurs on a jobsite that we need to learn to do for ourselves in our own lives.  "When on the jobsite, everyone is joking and laughing, but as soon as the concrete shows EVERYONE GETS QUIET AND GETS TO WORK."

Understand: This feeling is getting lost. If we never get to see and experience what this feeling is, we don't know what it actually means.

This is the "feeling" of GETTING QUIET AND GETTING TO WORK, is the feeling we need to learn to conjure.  It's the feeling we need to have in order to start to make that shift from a low gear into a high gear, the feeling that we need to have if we want to get the work done that really matters.

Wyatt's story will give you some perspective on life. One of the most important things that he shares is what it feels like and looks like to avoid reality and responsibilities. That these things can suck sometimes, they can be hard and painful but that doesn't mean you shouldn't pick up your burden. The Path is something that you can fall off of,  that you can find your way back to, and that with a little more self-awareness and a little self discipline that there are lots of things that you can do that will help you stay on the Path.
