In today’s episode we talk to Cheryl who probably better known as @Frugal_me_Free.

It can be really scary to talk about money. Most of us have struggled with financial stress at some point in our lives- in fact, a lot of us are struggling right now. Then add in the female factor- 32% of women admit the subject is too uncomfortable; 26% say the topic is never raised with them; 16% say it’s totally taboo; only 17% discuss saving and investing, and the other 9% we don’t know- they could well have their head in the sand and haven’t heard the question.

Money is hard to understand. If you find yourself confused by financial jargon, it can be a completely overwhelming issue to deal with.

Cheryl takes away this overwhelm when dealing with money. She’s been curious and honest about her journey, taking one step at a time. And it’s this breaking it down into small chunks that has enabled her to clear debt and put money toward her and her family’s future. Isn’t that what we all want?!

We didn’t expect a conversation around money to be so joyful, empowering, and hopeful. We now feel totally inspired on our financial journey taking one step at a time. And best of all it’s never too late.

This podcast is intended to educate and support your mindset regarding money. We are not financial advisors offering any products or services. Just sharing helpful tips that can help your financial journey go from spiraling out of control, to being under control- your control!

  • How to Breathe with Sophie Belle Episode 6
    2022/09/08

Have you heard of breathwork? Having a breathing practice is all the rage these days. But what is it, and why are people doing it? In this episode, we talk to Sophie Belle, breathwork facilitator and founder of the online breathwork studio, Mind You Club. Sophie works with goal driven women to help them manage their stress and overwhelm by incorporating breathwork practices into their daily routines, enabling them to feel calmer and lead happier lives.

Breathing hasn’t always got the respect it deserves, but the last two years of Covid has meant the practice of breathwork has gained momentum and entered mainstream wellbeing practices. There are now so many studies that show deep breathing is the easiest and most accessible way to balance the mind and body, thereby reducing your stress response.

Sophie tells us that over 70% of us don’t breathe properly. And as research shows the way we breathe directly affects our stress levels, it’s no wonder anxiety is the other global pandemic we face today. Chatting with Sophie, we can really see she walks her talk. She takes us through her journey from patient to practitioner after experiencing some very challenging times. She knows breathing works because it transformed her life for the better and she is now helping others to do the same. It was a joy to chat with Sophie on Time Talks and we have been inspired to incorporate breathwork into our daily schedule- it feels like receiving the most uplifting hug every day and afterwards you can handle anything.

Sophie offers a range of programmes, 1:1 sessions and live group sessions twice a year. Find out more about her services on the mindyouclub.com or @MindYouClub on Instagram and Facebook

    2022/07/08

We are back again chatting with Nawal Houghton, a divorce coach, qualified solicitor and mediator who has both professional and personal experience of  helping women, as well as men navigate their divorce with a narcissist.

In the first episode, we focused our divorce conversation specifically on the narcissist and partner receiving their abuse. In this episode, we look at divorcing a narcissist when children are involved.

We know this could be a triggering podcast for some listeners. It’s one thing for us to hurt, it’s quite another when our children are hurting. That said, Nawal’s expertise will guide  you through this minefield of pain- practical tips when it comes to parallel parenting; consistent routines and boundaries to help your children feel safe; how to explain tricky topics in an age appropriate way; and how to keep it together when your children’s behaviour might remind you of the narcissistic parent (don’t worry, it doesn’t mean they are a narcissist too!). Nawal will empower you and show you how to empower your children with various coping techniques that work for you as a family.

“I wish I had found you sooner” is a phrase Nawal often hears. Well, you have today by listening to this podcast and you can find out more how Nawal can help at yourdivorcecoach.org.uk and on Instagram, @your_divorce_coach

  • How To Say 'No' in 3 Easy Steps with Journalist, Kaye Holland - Episode 4
    2022/06/01

In this episode of Time Talks we chat with Kaye Holland, business owner and writer on the importance of saying 'no'.

Why is 'no' so hard to say? Do you feel like it's rude to say 'no'? Is this something you picked up in childhood?

Kaye talks through her journey so far of being a 'yes' person to now being able to say 'no' more often. We explore the whys, whats and hows to say 'no' in three simple steps:

    1) Get clear why you struggle to say 'no'

    2) Buy yourself time before you answer. Especially useful if 'yes' is your default answer

    3) Trust your gut instinct. Your body knows when you should answer 'no'

We then run through some handy phrases so saying 'no' becomes as easy as saying 'yes'. Get ready to gain time back by saying 'no' to things that don't move the needle on your life.

    2022/04/18

Today we speak with Nawal Houghton, a divorce coach, qualified solicitor and mediator who has both professional and personal experience of helping women, as well as men navigate their divorce.

We focus specifically on divorcing a narcissist. We hear a lot about narcissism in media these days, but what actually is it and what is it like to be on the receiving end of a narcissist's behaviour? We wanted to explore this topic as it's something we have personally experienced at Labour and Love London. Claire recently divorced her narcissistic ex and Ana has been her crutch during that time.

Nawal's expertise provides clarity, charting you through the brain fog you maybe feeling when involved with a narcissist. This podcast is to say you are not alone and there is very real help when using a divorce coach to see you through what will probably be the toughest experience of your life. We hope this vulnerable share shows you that a combination of professional guidance, as well as simple routines can take you from victim to victor.

We'll be back in a future episode with Nawal to chat more about guiding children through the divorce process and how to parent with a narcissist post separation.
