Internal conflicts. Competing agenda's. Why when I do one thing, it feels as though there's a side of me that doesn't want to do the thing !

Internal Family Systems, framed by Richard C. Schwartz, has been a beautiful and powerful framwork in helping us both understand the way our mind works.

It describes how there's many parts that make up the individual. Each part holding different roles, beliefs, ideas that when they are in control - make us think and behave differently.

Currently our kingdom or inner world is out of harmony. there are parts that are scared, there are parts living in the past and their are parts who think we are constantly in danger. There are also parts who want to create, want to express and help people and conflicts arise when these parts have conflicting agenda's.

Our kingdom needs a leader. One who's role it is to listen to these parts with compassion & love. Hear them out, understand their struggle and appreciate their service. Make decisions on if their role is beneficial, and help them on the path of healing and supporting the kingdom in a more effective way.

It's quite the process, and has given me a new perspective on the idea of having a relationship with myself. Loving myself and getting to know myself. It's a beautiful place to work on myself from.

Are you ready to, listen, have compassion and love your people?

  • The Dreamer.
    2025/06/01

What if I told you that your dreams are trying to communicate with you?

    What would you say?

    Would you think I’m crazy?

We like to think we are in full control of our behavior and emotions. But the truth is only 5% of what we do is a conscious decision. There are parts of our mind that we are not aware of and do not have access to. This is called the unconscious. It’s a very complex part of the psyche. It is responsible for everything that we cannot place our attention and awareness on in order to influence. E,g. How our body regulates our temperature.

Now this is where you will look at me like I am some spiritual hippy and laugh. Your dreams are the unconscious part of your mind trying to communicate with you.

We all have a dreamer that lives in the unconcious. It wants to help you and guide you. It has access to information that you do not. It knows your BLINDSPOTS.

The unconscious is like an inner compass, library, and mirror. It stores what you forget, shows you what you avoid, and nudges you toward becoming who you really are.

  • The typical path vs YOUR dharma path
    2025/05/18

The one questions everyone from age 15 until they figure it out is who do you want to be. We are constantly directed by our emotions but through looking inwards and having practices that create space, we can start to be directed by behaviour, which we have an active say in. Emotions come and go like fuel in the car, but behaviour in the engine getting you to where you want to go and who you want to be.

By knowing who we want to be action becomes simple, easy. We know what to do and when to do it. We truly open up ourself and commit to the life you deep down want to live. This is stepping into our dhamma.

Many challenges arise and forces act to stop us from achieving this. However, the forces guiding you to this state & the fulfilment felt from a life lived true to yourself far outweighs any discomfort.

  • The Targeted Experimental Phase
    2025/05/11

"E.L. Doctorow said once said that 'Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.' You don't have to see where you're going, you don't have to see your destination or everything you will pass along the way. You just have to see two or three feet ahead of you. This is right up there with the best advice on writing, or life, I have ever heard.” - Anne Lamott

We explore being on a path (Dhamma) and the experiments we are currently undertaking to align ourselves with a path that we want to be on.

We talk about how scary that can be sometimes. How confusing. not knowing where you're going. But by giving up the outcome, allowing ourselves the freedom to fail and having faith that we are on a path gives us light in the darkness.

  • Putting on the spacesuit.
    2025/03/02

When we are born we go into somebody training. This is a process of domestication so that we fit into society. We are taught who we are and how we have to behave. It's like wearing a space suit, and sometimes the space suit doesn't fit. One day we realise that we are not happy playing the character we were given. It's almost like we are living someone else's life. This can lead to great illness and unhappiness if we do not wake up to this. A spiritual leader named Ram Dass explains this process in his book becoming nobody. How we have to let go of who we thought we were in order to become nobody.

  • Brayden Hogan's Soul.
    2025/01/26

Brayden Hogan is someone who has turned knowledge into wisdom. He accomplishes this by continually learning, practicing, and reflecting on his experiences. Everyday he does the work on himself both mentally, physically, and spiritually. He understands that growth is about making mistakes, facing fears, and telling himself the truth. And through this process he has been able to share his wisdom with others and help them on their own journey.

In this episode Brayden is vulnerable in sharing his journey from growing up in a small country town to realising that there is more to life then what is sold to us. He is open in sharing his struggles in both his professional and personal life and explains what he has learnt along the way.

There are many tangents and rabbit holes we explore while traversing topics such as dreams, fears, self-limiting beliefs, god, social media, daily practices, the theory of change, relationships, and everything else the universe has to offer.

This conversation could have gone for 5 hours so I don't think it will be the last time Braydos is on the pod. Let us know what you want more of.
