This week our celebrity guests continues with the Legendary Matt Lucas of stage, Screen and Film fame.

Matthew Richard Lucas is an English actor and comedian. He is best known for his work with David Walliams on the BBC sketch comedy series Little Britain and Come Fly with Me. Lucas first came to prominence on the comedy panel show Shooting Stars, in which he portrayed scorekeeper George Dawes from 1995 to 2009 keeping the scores whilst playing the drums and adding some funny skits along the way.

Little Britain is one of Matt's most successful works. Little Britain was originally launched as a radio show on BBC Radio 4 and it later became a TV series.

Since then Matt's CV has grown and grown with any TV appearances to Hollywood movies including the latest Blockbuster Gladiator II.

Matt tells us about his involvement with the Karen Morris Memorial Trust,of which he is Patron, a UK charity for Leukaemia patients and their families, a very personal link with this Charity.

Matt was raised as Jewish but has variously described himself as an atheist although his views are changing as he grows older in years. Matt is now 50 and was recently the subject of BBC's "Who do you think you are" and learned that many of his grandmother's cousins had been murdered in the Holocaust during World War two. His grandmother's cousin, Werner Goldschmidt, had lived with the family of diarist Anne Frank in Amsterdam in 1942.

Martin joins Matt in a rendition of the "Baked Potato" song made famous during the lockdown in 2020.

A great interview and we thank Matt for joining us today

    Season 2 - Episode 15

The boy's love to cover different stories and this one certainly is just that.

    Gender Reassignment.

We are so lucky this week to be discussing this subject with the one and only Kellie Maloney.

Kellie Maloney is an English boxing manager and promoter, and television personality. Kellie managed Lennox Lewis, who won the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, between 1989 and 2001. This made Maloney the first Briton to manage a British heavyweight champion in almost a century.

Kellie has been married twice, marrying her first wife, Jackie, aged 21 The couple had their first child, Emma, shortly after.

She was married for over 15 years to second wife Tracey; they have two daughters together.

Kellie said in her first televised interview as an open trans woman that she and Tracey are now divorced, but that she has been "very supportive".

Following threats from the press to out her, in August 2014, Kellie announced in the Sunday Mirror that she is now known as Kellie, and was undergoing gender reassignment. Lennox Lewis was initially shocked at the news but expressed respect for Kellie's decision.

Today, Kellie joins the Boy's and explains her story in her own uncensored words honestly and openly, and we sincerely hope this interview may help others understand this complex subject in a n understanding way.

    Season 2 - Episode 14

This weeks episode is all about Stroke's a subject we have yet to cover.

What is a stroke, In medicine, a loss of blood flow to part of the brain, which damages brain tissue. Strokes can be caused by blood clots and broken blood vessels in the brain but in todays case it was a Subarachnoid hemorrhage that was the cause.

Today's special guest Lesley Atherton tells us her story and her road to recovery in remarkable time purely to her grit and determination and with the support of her professional team family and friends not forgetting her dogs.

A subarachnoid hemorrhage is bleeding in the space between your brain and the membrane that covers it. Most often, it occurs when a weak area in a blood vessel (aneurysm) on the surface of the brain bursts and leaks. The blood then builds up around the brain and inside the skull.

We are so blessed with our guests and today is no exception, Lesley tells us her story from the moment she realised something was wrong right through her treatment, rehabilitation and to present days.

She explains what drove her to her recovery, where she found inspiration and what she had to do to get back up on her feet and start living live again after a Stroke.

    How to identify a stroke

The FAST acronym (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) is a test to quickly identify if someone is having a stroke.

    • Face weakness: Can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped?
    • Arm weakness: Can the person raise both arms?
    • Speech problems: Can the person speak clearly and understand what you say?
    • Time to call 999: if you see any of these signs.

Thank you all once again for listening and we thank Lesley for joining us today and openly and honestly telling us her remarkable story

    Episode 12 Season 2

Another amazing guest joins the boy's and what a story he has to tell.

    Life in the Armed forces
    Suicide
    Complex Greif
    Adjustment Disorder
    Complex PTSD

Trevor Bygate, 48, joins Martin and Patrick for an informal chat about his time in the Armed Forces and how he received the devastating news that his Daughter Chloe had taken her own life in 2014 when she was just 19.

It led to him being medically discharged with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and he has used the experience to educate others of mental health.

Trevor initially took several months off work, but it was not until 2019 that he was diagnosed with complex PTSD and medically discharged from the Army.

He is keen to express his gratitude to the Royal British Legion, which helped him in his recovery after he left the armed forces.

The charity, which provides financial, social and emotional support for those who are and have been in the armed forces, helped fund Chloe's funeral. He described its support as "first class".

Trevor tells us how he received the devastating news whilst away on duty, how the Army supported him through this trauma, what happened to his mental health and how he made it through to today.

Trevor now works as a mental health advocate for HM Revenue and Customs while also helping to give presentations on behalf of Papyrus (Parents' Association for the Prevention of Young Suicide) - a charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide of young people.

He is keen to break the stigma around mental health and show it is OK to talk about struggles, while educating others on the topic.

"I always say to myself, Chloe didn't die for nothing, she died for something and that's me making sure that this story gets out."

One of Trevors outlets during his grieving process was running, sport and completing 6 Marathons raising thousands for charity. This has driven him on to where he finds himself today and finds himself selected for 2025's Invictus games in Canada.

"This year is 10 years since the Invictus Games started, it's 10 years since Chloe died, and I got the phone call to tell me that I was selected on 7 June - which is her 30th birthday.

Trevor believes Chloe was looking down on him the day he found out he had been selected for the games.

This is a truly amazing story from such an inspirational man.

Sorry this episode was delayed by seven days due to our special last week where Martin updated us on his Cancer and his new battle.

Today the boys interview a very special guest in Jeff Boland.

Jeff once an active firefighter on the front line helping people and saving lives found the pressures very hard at times and found an outlet in a lite drink with colleagues after a busy and sometimes stressful shouts.

Before long the drink had taken control and Jeff became an Alcoholic and his life spiralled down hill fast.

Jeff later found that his Liver had been severely damaged through his drinking and with deteriorating health soon found that the only option was a Liver transplant.

After that Jeff thought it couldn't get any worse but his heart was the issue this time and several Heart attacks followed before he was back in hospital for some bypass surgery.

Listen as Jeff takes us through his life story, it is fascinating and truly amazing, Jeff certainly has a very strong will and its that which has got him through it all today.

No joke of the week this week but it will return, thanks for listening and please like and share our Podcast where yo can.
