Virginia Reed survived the Donner Party Werewolves only to find herself in a life and death struggle with a creature out of nightmares. Three hundred years ago, a mysterious zone called the Stasis appeared, covering hundreds of square miles of the Pacific Northwest. When a peaceful protest at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument becomes an armed takeover, Hart Davis knows he has to play along with the occupiers to protect his former girlfriend park ranger Nicole Nelson and her coworkers. Amid escalating tension and factionalism within the armed camp, and surrounded by the FBI and the media, Hart and Nicole try to negotiate a peaceful end to the volatile situation. After being manipulated and coerced into a string of bad decisions, the travelers, frozen and abandoned, find themselves unable to go forward or back and are preyed upon by werewolves in their midst - the very people they thought were friends.
