After the initial series of summer blizzards, the snowfall has decreased, but the temperatures continue to drop, the icy wind still blows, and with each passing day, the darkness lasts longer and longer. Confined to the lake house and having no communication with the outside world, Grady and the others live every day in fear, questioning what the future holds. Will the snow melt? Will the sun ever rise? Can the wraiths be defeated? But as the days turn to weeks, no answers come.

After a tragic accident at work, all Grady Miller wanted was an escape. He finds it months later with two of his closest friends. Together, the three of them travel south to Prism Lake for the upcoming holiday, where they plan on spending the sunny weekend drinking, grilling, and relaxing. But when a series of monstrous blizzards cover the Eastern United States in feet of snow, knocking out communications and making the roads impossible to drive on, they realize their weekend of fun could turn into a lifetime of survival.

With Eden now behind Jack, he and the group set out to find the mysterious Doc Klein, who may know how to put a stop to the zombie plague and bring peace back to our world. But the task won't be an easy one. While traveling through the wasted East Coast, Jack and the gang get caught in a war between two groups - human cannibals and the Wranglers, the latter led by an ancient, clairvoyant woman named Mother. It is Mother who warns Jack of the Doc's insanity.

They need his superior intellect and tenacity. So Jack's mission is simple: Deliver Klein to their base unharmed. But the survivors don't know the entire story behind the cure, and someone in Jack's circle does. This secret could very well tear the family apart.

Six months have passed since the chaos in Woodhaven, and though Jack Jupiter escaped, he couldn't stop the virus from ravaging the globe, nor could he stop the billions from turning into undead creatures that feast upon the living. Now, society is on its knees. And Jack's group continues on, traveling from city to city, looking for a place to call home. That place might be Eden, a mysterious and guarded safe haven somewhere in Florida. But to get there, they'll have to remember not all monsters are zombies...sometimes they're human.

No longer stuck in Woodhaven, the survivors must race against the clock in order to get Mia to the City of Light before her delivery. Along the way, they meet a former resident of the City, and with this new acquaintance's help and guidance things begin looking up for Grady and company.
