  • Robin- Part 2
    2023/09/07

In this episode, Robin and I discuss what her life has been like after moving out and on from her relationship. I appreciate the rawness and vulnerability of anyone who can look within, address their own toxic traits, learn, grow, and share with us. If you haven't heard part 1, check it out!

You can find Robin on Instagram- @rpsully.

A spiritual awakening is not usually pleasant. Often it feels like confusion, frustration, anger, sadness, grief, or being “out of place. A spiritual awakening can be an intense time of personal growth. But despite how difficult it may feel, you’re not going crazy; you’re evolving."

  • Life, love, Alopecia, & finding yourself- My beautiful friend Robin
    2023/05/11

Today's guest is Robin, my beautiful, brave friend. We discuss life, love, reflection, betrayal, growth, and her battle with Alopecia. We never get to choose how life betrays us, how people fail us, or what the universe will throw at us. While not everything that happens in life is bad, and there is much good to notice, we learn. We choose to heal, we choose to find a counselor or a coach, and we do the work. Even though life can betray us, we often betray ourselves by ignoring our intuition, being a people-pleaser, and not setting boundaries. The great news is we can always unlearn our toxic traits, choose healing, and choose how we respond to what life throws our way. The awakening within ourselves that we experience through healing is painful, messy, sad, angry, and then somewhere it starts to become helpful, empowering, and delicious. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. Thank you for listening. You can find Robin on Instagram- @rpsully.

  • NPD recovery with Annalee
    2023/04/27

I am happy to introduce my friend Annalee to discuss Narcissistic Abuse Recovery. We share a bit about our own lived experiences and share about our healing. The term narcissist is overly used in today's society. Social media has blown this word up. As discussed in this episode, below is the DSM criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

My hope is that something resonated with you as you listen. You might be a survivor of this, of other trauma's, and/or know someone who is or was in an abusive relationship. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. We are all going through hard times, living with trauma, grief, pain, and so on. If you'd like to follow Annalee, her Instagram and TikTok is @annaleed.wellness.

If you are ready to work on yourself, your healing, or even need to learn more coping skills for resiliency to handle what life may throw at you, please click on my link for scheduling https://linktr.ee/coachbrit.

    Per the DSM, NPD includes:

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and with lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood, as indicated by at least five of the following:

    • Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements, expects to be recognized as superior without actually completing the achievements)
    • Is preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, brilliance, beauty, or perfect love.
    • Believes that they are "special" and can only be understood by or should only associate with other special people (or institutions).
    • Requires excessive admiration.
    • Has a sense of entitlement, such as an unreasonable expectation of favorable treatment or compliance with his or her expectations).
    • Is exploitative and takes advantage of others to achieve their own ends.
    • Lacks empathy and is unwilling to identify with the needs of others.
    • Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of them.
    • Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors and attitudes

The diagnosis of NPD as other personality disorders requires evaluation of long-term patterns of functioning. One needs to be cautious not to jump to hasty conclusions because NPD can trigger countertransference. A careful evaluation of the different aspects of a person's life and an understanding of the person's childhood development can assist in the evaluation and diagnosis of NPD. • Growing up adopted- Britney's story
    2023/03/30

In today's episode, Britney talks about adoption, finding her birth parents, and how it affected her life throughout. She walks us through finding out at age 5 she was adopted, how it affected her life, and finding and meeting her birth parents. It's courageous to make a decision to give up a child you don't think you can provide a life for. It's courageous to adopt a child knowing that one day, they will have questions and want to find missing pieces. It takes so much love for everyone involved. I admire the strength it takes to choose adoption. I'm thankful for those who have the resources and ability to provide for children who need homes. What a true gift to children to have family.

Nelson Mandela: "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." Oliver Wendell Holmes: "Have the courage to act instead of react." Ovid: "Courage conquers all things: it even gives strength to the body."

  • An intimate look into grief- In loving memory of Pops
    2023/03/23

Today I get really vulnerable and talk about grief; my personal experiences as well as the process of grief. Here's a secret... there's no "right" way to grieve. That said, I do believe there are healthy ways to grieve. The way I have chosen to grieve the loss of my niece Alura, and my Pops, is to a live a life that honors them. I remember tall the things about them, happy, sad, good and even the not-so-great pieces to who they are.

For my own well-being, I choose breath work, journaling, and sometimes even need a "cry movie" to help me bringup the locked tears. My go-to movie is My Sisters Keeper.... TEAR JERKER!

    To my Pops-

"That pain you feel is from the piece of your heart that your dad took with him so he'd always feel your love.

In the times when the pain is the strongest is when he holds that piece a little tighter and whispers, "I miss you too."

Thank you for listening! To schedule with me, cClick on the link today to schedule. https://linktr.ee/coachbrit.

"The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not "get over" the loss of a loved one; you'll learn to live with it. You'll learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to." ~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler, on Grief and Grieving.
