  • Finding Your Genie Despite Obstacles

    Helen is no stranger to obstacles or better yet overcoming obstacles.  When Helen found herself living in NY and wanting a different life, she found a path to London.  And again when she re-identified what she wanted, she landed in Ireland. Helen was always told she'd have to work nights, but she didn't want to.  She structures her life how she wants.  She now goes to watch her children play rugby or whatever she wants.  Just the way she envisioned her life. 

    Helen has always worked hard but had an unconscious confidence.  And that's what she encourages others to have - but it's more like conscious confidence.  Know what you want and be that person now or act as though you have that life now to get what you desire in the long run. Your life will start to match what you desire and visualize.

  • Finding Your Genie Whilst Balancing Family

    Tiffany Mason, wife, mom of three, podcaster, and podcast manager joined me to explore finding your Genie whilst balancing a family.  Tiffany explained how her genie has guided her through life thus far.  She explained she has relied on her faith and wishes she'd found meditation sooner in life because it is very centering for her.  She and her family have made a few long-distance moves and taken chances in life not knowing how those decisions would ultimately play out.  Tiffany tries to figure out people's love languages to better communicate with clients and her family using "The Five Love Languages". (see book below)Tiffany has found her Genie that guides her to have balance in work, play, and family.

  • Stepping Into The Best Version Of Yourself

    I encourage you all to find your Genie, right?  But what does that look like?  Well, I interviewed the well-accomplished interviewer in combination with all her other accomplishments, Patricia Raskin.  Patricia shared a difficult time in her career when she was feeling defeated.  Because Patricia has found her Genie, she leaned on her skill set, tenacity, and passion for what she does to take an original idea before Covid and morphed it into a relevant project today.  Patricia has recently launched a podcast that was supposed to be a tv series.  To her delight, she now has a more relevant way to communicate to all of  America AND a larger listening audience.  Her perseverance and support from others turned her project into an even better outcome than she had originally intended!!

    You're definitely there, you're on a beach...this is how virtual reality makes you feel.  You trick your mind.  Do you remember the old saying "Seeing is believing"? Well, when it comes to virtual reality that is true.  Once your mind has seen it, your mind now believes it.  You were definitely there, you were on a beach, you did reach your business goal, and you did lose the weight.  Our mind needs to see it is a possibility and then your actions and body follow to make it true.

    What is the difference?  How do you know which one will work best for you?  Sharon Ledwith, a professional hypnotherapist brought clarity to these questions. Sharon used meditation for many years and did see progress but then she noticed others getting quicker results using hypnotherapy. However, she pointed out when you would seek hypnotherapy over meditation. There is a time and place believe it or not.  Sharon explained the process she goes through with her patients, the 4 stages of hypnotherapy, and shared some success stories!  Sharon is a trained hypnotherapist using, Parts Therapy, with years of experience and this was an eye-opening conversation.

  • Using Meditation To Be The Best Version Of You

    Did you know there is more than one way to meditate?  Have you ever considered meditating?  Meditation provides many health benefits as well as calmness, peace, and balance.  In this episode, we discuss classic closed eye meditation, soft-focused meditation, and walking meditation.  When you meditate you are virtually immersing yourself in the movie of your life the way you want the script to be written.  When your brain can see what it will look and feel like, you start to attract those things.  There are two success stories I shared in this episode about the effects meditation had on two people's lives.  They used different methods of meditation to achieve their desires. 

    Maybe you need to reconsider meditation for your daily practice.  I encourage listeners to ease into meditation building up to daily practice.  Try all three to see which method is most effective and enjoyable. I hope your life is changed positively after listening to this episode.

    So you want the science?  Ok, here it is!  Studies with astonishing results all from visualization!  You want to grow your business?  Reach a goal?  Have you tried meditation?  Yeah you can't visualize it either?  I couldn't either which is how I got to where I am.  I created Genie In a Headset for those of us who can't visualize.  Because visualization is too important and impactful to forego.  You will be shocked about the part where people gained muscles from visualization alone!  Yes, sorry, you still need to go to the gym though!  But this episode will open your eyes to how much you can accomplish simply with visualization and meditation. Full Transcript:  Visualization and the Science - Does it work?  How does Visualisation affect our brains?  Visualization is closing your eyes and seeing images in your mind which can help you accomplish goals. In theory, it sounds amazing, right? You imagine yourself doing something and poof - it's done!  But does it REALLY work? There is plenty of scientific evidence and research that supports how effective visualization is.  The brain is constantly growing and developing. When we learn something new or experience something for the first time like baking a cake or learning a new language or roller skating you create a memory. The more often you practice the task the stronger that memory becomes and easier it is to recall. What the brain can not do is know the difference between the actual physical experience or an imagined one.  According to Neuroscience and visualization research paper done by the international coaching academy “if you exercise an idea over and over in your mind, your brain will begin to respond as though the idea was a real object in the world”  The thalamus [the part of the reality-making process of the brain] makes no distinction between inner and outer realities, and thus, any idea, if contemplated long enough, will take on a semblance of reality … The concept begins to feel more attainable and real, and this is the first step in motivating other parts of the brain to take deliberate action in the world. (http://coachcampus.com/coach-portfolios/research-papers/bala-kishore-batchu-neuro-science-behind-visualization/)  When we visualize something we want to achieve or do the same part of the brain is stimulated as if we were physically doing the action or being in the experience. A study conducted by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, compared people who went to the gym with people who carried virtual workouts in their heads. The finding, according to Psychology Today, showed a 30 percent muscle strength increase in the physical gym-goers. And the virtual gym-goers? The ones who just pictured working out? They saw a muscle strength increase of 13.5 percent. That’s right. Just by thinking about exercising, these individuals became stronger. So in other words Picturing yourself achieving your goal is crucial to actually getting it done.  For visualization to be most effective you need to literally see it. Our brain thinks in images, that’s why you will hear people talking about putting a vision board together but again it's not enough just to have the images staring at you like a postcard from a friend’s holiday - you need to be able to look at the pictures on the board to visually stimulate the brain and then use visualization to experience it in your mind.    I loved these interesting pointers from the Huffpost  "...It is now a well-known fact that we stimulate the same brain regions when we visualize something and when we actually do it..."  - if you don’t know the how, start by imagining what you want. It won’t come up immediately but imagining is a way of getting the process started quickly. E.g if you want to start a home-based business baking cakes then start imagining being in the kitchen surrounded by cakes and cookies you are taking out the oven. Even try to imagine the smell. Draw a picture of what the kitchen will look like and then do it again. The more you repeat this process the clearer it’ll become and the more likely it will be that you will succeed. "...if a person with this stroke imagines moving the affected arm or leg, brain blood flow to the affected area increases and the surrounding brain tissue is saved..." - if you have had a setback, don’t give up. Keep the blood flowing to the brain of the area that will execute your action by focusing your visualization on what you want. People usually focus on what they don’t want and all this will do is stop the actions you should be taking. A failure is not the final - it does not mean that...
