• Encourage New Growth
    2024/11/06

Today I'm chatting about encouraging new growth by looking at and reflecting on the four facets of health: physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual. I walk you through the exercise I did to show you how you might go about figuring out what you want or need to prune that no longer serves you in a positive way.

In this episode I talk about the deck of cards, called Nature Meditations. You can find them here: Nature Meditations

  • Stillness in the Midst of Chaos
    2024/10/30

As women, so many of us feel like we always have to be "on." We have to constantly have to be doing something or the world will fall aspart. But guess what? It won't.

In this episode, I talk about how to work on stillness and why it's so important. As women, we owe it to ourselves to be able to sit in stillness and to exist, to simply be.

  • I'm 57!!!
    2024/10/23

I recently completed my 57th trip around the sun. I spend this episode chatting about why I took another two-week hiatus (I know you'll understand), what it meant to me to celebrate my birthday, and advice I wish I could have given my younger self.

Thanks for going on this bird walk with me!

  • I'm Back!!!
    2024/10/09

After a two-week break, I'm back and better than ever!! That's the intention anyway! :) I did a lot of soul searching over the last two weeks on what I really want this podcast to be about moving forward. So, check out what I'm keeping and how I'm changing it. I'm excited about it, and I hope you will be as well.

  • What's Left Unfinished?
    2024/09/18

I started reading The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult. In it, the main character is a death doula, and one of the questions she asks clients as they prepare to end their early life is, "What's left unfinished?"

I pose this question to you this week, not as a morbid thought but rather as a realistic reflection and inspiration to stop waiting to do the things and get to doing them before time runs out. Because, as we all know, no one is getting out alive. :)

  • Let People Run Their Own Race
    2024/09/11

James Clear's newsletter was in the inspiration for this episode. In his weekly newsletter, he offered this nugget of wisdom, "Your job is to live life with them, not live their life for them."

In this episode, I share a story from my long ago coaching days about some young women who learned a valuable lesson in running their own race and their parents who let them do so rather than swooping in for the rescue.

We all have great intentions when we want to help others, but we can't do it for them or it won't have the same impact.

If you're interested in this newsletter, you can check it out: James Clear 3-2-1.

  • Bird by Bird
    2024/09/04

From Anne Lamott's book, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life, Lamott shares the story of her brother who had a project due on birds. Spoiler alert, he waited until the last minute to get it done.

And then, Lamott's father gives the best advice when her brother was feeling overwhelmed. That's the focus of this week's episode.

In this episode, I talk about the following:
    *the feelings of overwhelm
*putting a plan of action together (go back and listen to Episode 116 - Rome Wasn't Built in a Day
*how deep breaths help, because the "things" aren't going to go away
    *how understanding impermanence helps
*being reflective is the key practice

  • Rome Wasn't Built in a Day
    2024/08/28

We all know that Rome wasn't built in a day, and yet we think that overnight success happens. I hate to break it to you, but it doesn't. It take planning, consistent effort, and patience. In this episode, I break down these three components to share a recipe for building our own Rome.
