  • 66 | The Best Way to Get People to Listen for Working Moms
    2024/10/29

As a working mom with a career you love and a home that you want to give your best to, you carry so much of the mental and emotional load of life at both places. And sometimes all you want is for someone to do what you ask of them. But when you do finally ask someone to help you, nobody listens!

‘Are their ears painted on?’ is something I often wander around muttering to myself! It is so frustrating to feel like you are not being listened to or not being heard, whether this is at work or at home.

In this conversation, I offer a few reasons why people might not be listening (explanations, NOT excuses!) and three ways that you can be more sure that you will be listened to and heard so that you can get the help you need and the results you want from those around you.

  • 64 | Your Attention Is a Gift. Give It Where It Matters Most
    2024/10/15

Your attention is a most wonderful gift you can give to those around you and to yourself. It has a huge impact on your relationships and on your performance but it is also incredibly fragile. We are so easily distracted and our attention can be broken by the quickest glance at something else!

In this episode, we look at the three systems of attention and how they function to support one another and to support you as you go through your day, engaging with your work, engaging with those around you and engaging with yourself.

As a working mom, where you put your attention and how well you are able to keep it there can impact your stress, the amount of guilt you feel (because you will be so much more focused and present) and how much you can get done. Sound like a win? I think so!
