  • Transforming Lives: Coaching and Clutter
    2023/09/22

    Coach Kim is Here!!
Becky introduced Kim Arrington, who shared her experience of helping women over 40 transform their lives through coaching and her recently launched program, Half-life Weight Loss. Both emphasized the importance of practical and achievable steps in personal transformation. They discussed experiences with replacing emotional eating with other vices, and the issue of accumulating unnecessary clutter. Kim shared her journey of losing weight and how it led to increased spending and introduced the Dcr method from her course, which encourages self-discovery beyond societal influences. The conversation suggested that excessive shopping could be a sign of needing a new vice. Kim and Becky discussed strategies to overcome procrastination and manage overwhelming thoughts. Kim suggested making small changes, like going for a walk or getting a glass of water, to break up the monotony of larger tasks. Becky admitted that even while engaging in an enjoyable activity like crafting, she was still plagued with thoughts of unfinished tasks. Kim suggested practicing mindfulness, allowing thoughts to pass without getting caught up in them, as a tool to manage this. They concluded the conversation with an emphasis on recognizing the need for personal time and self-care. Kim and Becky discussed the importance of mindfulness and being present, particularly during mundane tasks like washing dishes. They suggested that these moments could be extended and used to cultivate a sense of peace and calm. They also acknowledged the role of shame in avoiding tasks and how this can lead to a cycle of avoidance and further accumulation of clutter. Becky shared her personal struggle with this issue and highlighted how shopping can sometimes be a way of seeking a dopamine hit to counteract feelings of shame. Kim and Becky discussed strategies to overcome their impulses to shop and make other unhelpful habits. Kim shared how she has managed to reduce her Amazon purchases and suggested that creating new habits, such as using items already owned, can provide a similar dopamine hit to shopping. They also talked about the importance of small, daily changes, like putting the remote back in its place, to alter patterns of behavior. They agreed that acceptance and willingness to change are crucial for personal growth. Kim and Becky discussed the importance of small, consistent actions and habits, such as always putting things back in their place.

    2023/08/04

Y'all... I am not one to get in a gym very easily. I love to dance and move and walk and enjoy nature, but after talking with Ashley Lowe, a fitness and strength coach, I think I am going to start focusing on some muscle building.

After all, what I do is very physical. I pick up and haul around tons of stuff doing decluttering. But I may not always be able to do so. So, why not get really clear on strengthening my body to keep going as long as possible.

  • Are You a Secret Squirrel Hider, Too?
    2023/07/28

It's hard to admit sometimes when we need help. Most of us were raised in a way where it was frowned upon to ask for help... like we weren't strong or smart enough to figure things out. But the issue with that is we HAVE to ask for help because sometimes other people just have better ideas or think differently - which is what we need. We need new perspectives and to see the world and our situations in a new light.

This week, I deep dive with a very special client. This is someone I helped earlier this month. I spent a week getting her main level of her house "move-out" ready. She knew she needed to get it done and was going in circles. So, when I went to help her, I noticed she just simply needed a new system. The house wasn't an issue, but her systems of storing items was not working for her.

And she was so thankful and so glad she asked for my help, she told me I need to do a podcast episode on how and when it's OK to ask for help.

Such a fun guest and such an amazing transformation to her home.

Who is this mystery guest??? Well, you'll just have to listen and find out.

  • When You Get to that Second Act of Life - an conversation with Laurie Adams
    2023/07/07

Laurie Adams and I talk today about how women can find their fullest potential even later in life. Laurie is an amazing coach and her support and experience helped me tremendously in the past.

I think the thing I love most about the women she helps is that there is a whole generation of women who just get to a certain age and can't even define who they are. But Laurie helps these women find their full potential and it's such a beautiful thing.

If you are at a point in life where you just need help finding your potential and you're in your 50's or older, consider reaching out to Laurie. I'm sure you'll love our conversation, but working with her is a whole other experience.
