  • Rae Bonney with Mal Meiers - Food For Thought - 10 September, 2018
    2019/01/13

The hospitality industry cops a lot of flak for being detri(mental) to the health of its workers. In 2014, international, award winning chef and founder of Food for Thought charity dinner, Mal Meiers, used his own experiences, an insatiable desire for change and influencing skills comparable to Oprah, to do something about it. Food for Thought was created to help raise awareness about mental health challenge in the hospitality industry and to support people in managing better. Four years ago, Mal started with a single dinner in Melbourne and recently sold out more events in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane – inspiring life saving conversations amongst thousands of industry leaders, workers, their families and friends. The generosity of the industry has meant that everything for each event is donated, including top notch venues, chefs, food and wine. Hear what it feels like being Mal Meiers right here.

  • Rae Bonney with Rob Gell - ReThink Sustainability - 17 September, 2018
    2019/01/13

In 1979 Rob Gell's “Four Day Forecast” revolutionised the way television weather was presented. For 31 years, he brought authority, information and credibility to TV news - introducing pretty cool things, like satellite image sequences, integrated pressure analyses and pretty much, helped viewers make sense of it all. I caught up with Rob recently - sparking a “university education” styled conversation - endorsing that Rob Gell, truly is, an amazingly informed spokesperson on environmental and media issues. He links strongly with the scientific and conservation communities, giving a convincing and compelling insight into the thinking and philosophies around these intricate issues. Now heading Rethink Sustainability, Rob and his team are passionate about helping organisations thoughtfully and knowledgeably transition to environmentally sustainable operations that, in turn support the well being of their people. Hear what it feels like being Rob Gell.

  • Jake Edwards - Outside the Locker Room
    2018/07/19

It never fails to astound me that, every minute of every day, another man kills himself somewhere in the world …. at the same time, at least another 20 are trying – My guest tomorrow, Jake Edwards, is a fourth generation AFL player who describes one of his proudest moments in life - running out onto the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in front of 80,000 people.. in the same breath he discloses the lowest point … facing a bathroom mirror, contemplating how to end his life.

7 years later, in 2015 Jake pulled out all the stops and created a welfare and education program for Australian sporting clubs, called "Outside the Locker Room", which in almost 4 years, has become one of the most sought after and well recognised programmes being used by more than 100 grassroots sporting clubs and schools across Australia. Hear what it felt like being Jake Edwards back then and right now

    2018/06/22

Eleven year old Izellah Connelly is a vibrant, acting, singing and dancing artist from the sunny shores of Queensland's Gold Coast. Most recently playing the role of Matilda in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s multi-award winning production of Matilda The Musical, she’s also had numerous leading roles, including The London Palladium production of The Sound of Music and Opera Australia's 2014 production of The King and I.

Without straying too far from her glittering career as a theatrical actor - in collaboration with some of the world’s best producers and writers - Izellah found time to unleash her debut music single, called 'Unbeatable'.

  • Rae Bonney - 04-Jun-2018 - Travis Strong ~ White Owl for Men’s Health Awareness
    2018/06/22

In the lead up to Men's Health Week (11-17 June), we kicked off a show, all about Men ... and their health. I recently joined the committee of White Owl for Men's Health, a fair dinkum, hard working group of people, dedicated to making change and reducing health risks to men.

Travis Strong (co-founder) joined me for the second time this year to continue highlighting many of the unknown issues that impact the wellbeing of our men and how we can do a better job supporting, identifying and recognising that men also matter.

We're also took a special moment to commemorate the life of a much loved man, husband, father and friend to so many - Richard Whitehead "Beno", who died suddenly, on May 20, 2018, just days after his 51st birthday.

  • Rae Bonney - 28-May-2018 - Steven Savino
    2018/06/22

At a very young age, many of us have the great fortune of being inducted into a system of education - groomed to become "something" that will sustain the rest of our lives. How do we choose an occupation, so important, with such little experience? Do we follow pennies or passion?

Steven Savino picked up his first tennis racquet at the tender age of 11 and from that moment followed his intuition. Some 30 years later, dedication, determination, and trust in his gut has led Steven to become an internationally recognised, professional tennis coach. He joined me to "serve" up some "ace" "deuce" on what it feels like to have followed his career "match" all over the world.

  • Rae Bonney - 14-May-2018 - Jacqui Lambie
    2018/06/22

Jacqui Lambie has always stood out from the mediocrity of Australian politicians - even in the announcement of her exit from the Senate after being caught up in the ridiculous 'Citizenship Crisis'. Her no-nonsense response that politicians who unwittingly breached Section 44 of the Constitution should just 'suck it up', deal with their fate and run for Parliament again, is a typical approach that endears her to many.

During her time in Parliament, Jacqui has been a somewhat refreshing and authentic Australian voice in the Senate. Love her or otherwise, you can't deny Jacqui is, fair dinkum, hands down, the "real deal" as she continues to stand steadfast for matters that include a better deal for our military veterans, and a sustainable system of care for those afflicted by the scourge of ice addiction.

Jacqui joined me on the line to talk about these matters and share some titbits from her brand new, warts and all autobiography “Rebel with a Cause”

  • Rae Bonney - 07-May-2018 - Glenn Taylor ~ Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria
    2018/06/22

It's no secret that nurses and midwives can often neglect and sacrifice their own health and wellbeing for the sake of others. Whilst this is a commendable characteristic, it's important to recognise, that in order to support others, their self-care is critical. The Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria was established to provide advice, support and case management to nurses, midwives and students of nursing. Initially addressing challenges presented by substance use and later, associated mental health concerns.

Glenn Taylor, a registered nurse and CEO of the NMHP, joined tmew to talk about the many challenges facing this extraordinary helping profession and also sharing the personal journey that led to his very own calling.
