    Dr. Karyn Shanks is a physician, teacher, and author of Heal—A Nine-Stage Roadmap to Recover Energy, Reverse Chronic Illness, and Claim the Potential of a Vibrant New You.

    She believes that health and vitality are essential for the highest expression of our human potential and that the bones of healing are in what we think and what to do for ourselves. In her book and in her work she shares the profound lessons she has learned as a person, a physician, and a patient herself. She has integrated those lessons with the science, cultural wisdom, and experiential knowledge gleaned from her extensive work.

  • The Pressure of Being “Good” with Psychotherapist Jodi Krahn

Aimee and Lisa have an unexpected therapy session with their regular guest Jodi Krahn as they relay a recent revisit of unhealed, younger parts of themselves who learned they needed to be good to be loved. Aimee tells a story of her teenage self who learned she didn’t belong and Lisa recounts a moment in childhood when she learned the perils of dropping the ball. She’s been featured on the cover of Yoga Journal and Mantra Wellness, and was named “one of the seven yoga teachers who have changed the practice.” Her vibrant and inclusive style as a speaker, yoga and meditation educator, life coach trainer and author is infused with practical wisdom and heartfelt humor.   • Being Useful with Brandt Passalacqua

    In the last episode of 2019, Aimee and Lisa have a meaningful conversation with Lisa’s Yoga Therapy Teacher, Brandt Passalacqua. Brandt is the creator of the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy School and has been enjoying Yoga and the healing arts since 2001 after overcoming obesity and a life-threatening autoimmune illness. His personal journey is an inspiration to us and countless others as is his humorous and down-to-earth teaching style. Listen in as Brandt shares how his health crisis brought him to yoga and meditation which shifted his thoughts from daily worries to seeking an authentic purpose. His drive toward wanting to be useful led him to create a system for “Peaceful Weight Loss” and to write a book of the same name. He works with individuals suffering from a wide variety of disease including obesity, eating disorders, acute and chronic physical complaints, trauma, chronic and mental conditions. He also serves as a meditation teacher and has just opened a meditation program that emphasizes finding the most efficient practice/s for an individual’s evolution.     This week Lisa flies solo while Aimee enjoys a much-needed retreat. In her absence, she enjoys a conversation with Tori Peck, a traffic reporter from San Diego who has been a participant in Aimee and Lisa’s online program “A Radiant Fall”. We asked Tori if she would be willing to share her story about why she was seeking some uplifting life skills and how she has been supported by the weekly lessons. The intention of this conversation is to create awareness of the work we offer, however it’s our hope that this episode is helpful even if you’re not called to join our program.
