• Are Daddy Issues Chronic?
    2022/10/12

Why are my Daddy Issues symptoms ongoing and present?

Well just like symptoms of chronic illness or depression these are symptoms you go through on a daily basis. The more you are aware of these symptoms, the better you can take care of yourself which will then lead to remission of these symptoms.

In this episode, I’m getting more real than usual! You have created a safe space for me and I want to reveal another piece of my journey. This is a story of personal struggles that I had to face and overcome. In the moment I was triggered with everything going wrong. I had a plan in place and even a back up plan and nothing was just going accordingly.

If you are having these feelings of feeling out of control or that nothing is going according to plan, stop and take a breath! Sit in the moment and practice being mindful of the situation so you can make strategy for the next steps.

Remember, you can do hard things!

  • Yikes! My therapist canceled!
    2022/09/21

    Hey Couch Crew ✨🛋 💗

My therapist canceled on me, yikes!

We all go through things in life that will eventually lead us to the need for support. But what do you do when your therapist has to reschedule? At first you may go into panic mode and feel like you're losing control but instead try

-Journaling, write down how your body is reacting, challenge those thoughts

-Stand on what you know, use the tools that you already have in your tool belt

-Check out my course, “Is It Me? How My Daddy Issues May Be Jacking Up Your Relationship”

The thing is, therapists are human, things come up in their lives as well so there may be times where they need to reschedule an appointment. It has nothing to do with you, so stop the negative talk and next time you do see your therapist bring up those emotions you were feeling when they had to reschedule.

Listen to me tell you more about how to conquer the critic in this episode!

In the end ultimately you need to find what works for you and what you need. It’s important to always have a backup so you have the tools to get through these situations and make it on your own until your next appointment.

  • Earthly Father vs. Heavenly Father
    2022/09/14

    Hey Couch Crew ✨🛋 💗

Today we have Shannon of Hey Shannon Rae, a lifestyle brand of trying to just make less mistakes. Her response to this question is amazing; come take a listen!

We often want to feel wanted or feel a sense of belonging regardless of our different beliefs and values. But it’s hard when we don’t trust God and/or can’t admit that we are mad at Him.

My own recovery from Daddy Issues involved truly exploring this and now I realize the tug and pull was part of a process that is necessary for my becoming.

Part of my deeper purpose is to usher women through emotional trauma of Daddy Issues without submitting to the shame attached so they can realize the Father who matters. I’m thankful to share this guest with you, so you can join us for a revelation of your own!

  • Beyond Her Roles
    2022/08/17

In today’s society we can silently suffer from

    -sadness

    -worrying

    -stress

We constantly put all this pressure on ourselves and feel that we need to people please. It can sound like:

    -”I have to be this version of myself at all times;

-I don’t want to disappoint anyone”

Mastering this art of pretending that everything is ok, when in reality your needs are not being met, is actually…not ok.

Adding all this pressure to ourselves is not realistic and is way too much for one person to be responsible for.

Christalyn Howard, mental health counselor, is here today to talk to us about how women can break free from this pressure of feeling like they have to show up for everyone and do everything perfectly.

    She has us ask

    -what do you love?

    -what are your roles?

-who assigned these roles to you?

This conversation is to allow women to break free from these roles and responsibilities and discover how to live for themselves and learn ways to say no and to take care of their needs before others.

Here’s how to get in touch with her and follow her content:

  • Men & Daddy Issues
    2022/07/29

Each and every person comes from a different culture or background. The way we grow up and the things we encounter are what shapes us into the people we are today.

I always say, “If you’re alive, you have Daddy Issues period. It is what it is.”

But there are people out there that say, “But Christian,”

    -My dad was always there;

    -I could never do any wrong;

-My dad took care of me and treated me like a princess”

Well, I hate to break it to you but even though your dad was there, you can still have Daddy Issues and things that are triggering to you and not even know it. Even the most delightful relationships with our parents have us in our heads.

And that’s ok! I’m so ready to help you navigate the messages you received so you can take what worked and leave what didn’t.

Robert Wilson Jr, host of From My Experience podcast, is here today to talk to us about his experience with Daddy Issues. He’s giving up the game about:

    -With his own father

-Women he’s dated in the past

-And how those things have shaped him into who he is today

Our purpose of this conversation is to

    -Normalize Daddy Issues…for men, too!

-Help break the history of black men often being silenced or quiet

-Show you how to grow from the pain of the past

-Learn how to make room for healthier relationships

    Introducing my new online course…

“Is it me?: How My Daddy Issues May be Jacking up My Relationships”

A step-by-step course that shows you how to find your patterns and how to interrupt them for a healthier outlook and habits.

    2022/04/03

    Hey, there Couch Crew! ✨🛋💗

    Glad you’re HERE!

So, you saw the whole Will-Smith-Slapped-Chris-Roch debacle, right? Who didn’t? Unfortunately, it was seen and heard around the world.

There are so many different opinions about it; and frankly, it triggered some surprising things in me.  I finally got to process this and wanted to share my thoughts.

How are we supposed to react in public then? Especially with what people expect from us? Should we switch to a different code in certain situations?

Do you find yourself code-switching all the time? And what does that term, code-switching, mean?

I hope this episode opens your perspectives and breeds conversations about how this is also crucial to understanding how to navigate your needs and the needs of your relationships.

If you’re new here, I’m Christian Jackson, a licensed therapist here in South Carolina, and I’m here to help women heal through relationship trauma.

Learn how to Pray, Twerk, Work…

Pray… to the God of your understanding for clarity and added strength.

Twerk… move your body so that it has a chance to create safety for the first time or again.

Work… with the previous two elements, you are ready to get into the steps it takes to heal your relationship trauma AKA baggage for healthier connections with yourself and others!

This is the space for you to hear me discuss

    • Dealing with Daddy Issues
    • Feeling lonely in your marriage
    • How to stop choosing the same person
    • Setting boundaries and having accountability in relationships
    • Breaking traumatic dating cycles
    • How to address mental health through this

    So much more!

    So, let’s get into it!
